Does anyone else have this?? I got it on my way to work and haven't been able to listen to it yet. Its got some good stuff on it, though...Weather Report, Pat Metheny, Joni Mitchell, and a lot of his solo work.

It is awesome. My son is a budding jazz bass player, and we've been diggin' that one a lot!
He particularly liked the demo recording that Jaco did in his home studio (The Chicken) and then listening on to the later stuff. Very inspiring!

The Weather report stuff brought back a lot of memories for as I used to listen to that before I even knew who Jaco was.

One of my favorites on that compilation is "Invitation" (in fact, I put it on just now in honor of this thread!). Also, I just love "Amerika", that's the kind of stuff that made me a Jaco fanatic in the first place...

on edit: just add, the Joni Mitchell stuff is fanastic. (I just flipped on CD 1) It's amazing to think that when I used to listen to these Joni Mitchell tracks way back when I had no idea... "The Dry Cleaner from Des Moines" is just killer...

Thanks for this thread, I haven't listened to this compilation in months...

2. When I was a college dj, during the summer our station went off
the air at 2:00am. The song that was always played last was "Amerika". Man...that brings back some memories as that was 20 years ago!!!

4. What a way to end the day!
BTW, if you haven't seen it yet, you should check out the Jaco DVD that's out there. It's an amazing thing to see. That guy was crazy on the bass.

I'm so glad to see my kid diggin' his stuff as well. I got him a '78 Jazz Bass for his high school graduation and he pretty much has died and gone to heaven...
