Does anyone else give up on a thread when it gets way too big?

10. I so enjoyed screwing with that Prof especially seeing as he was teaching

poli sci. I could get away with it because even though he was an ass and so far to the right that he would think Cheney was the next Che Guevara, whatever your grade was that is what you got. He never in a million years monkey around with it because he disliked you or disagreed with you.

15. I had a biz prof who was Republican and actually later got elected...

...but this was in the late '70s when people could have varying views on politics and still get along. He lectured about the "liberals" from the podium, as in, "Many liberals would have you think X, but we all know it is really Y..." But he did it with a wink and a nod, and I actually liked the guy though I disagreed with his politics. Got an A in that class, to.

Like I said, this was back when people with the two views could actually talk civilly with one another without vandalizing each others' property or making heated personal threats. LOL.

17. I think he kinda liked me because

It was "Intro to Poli Sci" so there were a lot of freshmen in his classes who just accepted whatever he said and never challenged him. Me on the other hand had been in the Army for 8 years by the time I got there. SO the awe and fear factor of being 18 and him being a Prof was not there. So when I felt he was wrong or someone he was talking about was wrong I would challenge him on it. I ended up with an A in the class.

The irony is that he was my polar opposite when it came to politics but never felt in fear of my GPA in that class. At the same time I had another class which I dropped because I was in fear of my GPA because of the Profs prejudices. It was "Intro to Soc" and the teacher was a big time progressive. She constantly bashed Republicans (I had no problem with that) and she also bashed men perpetually. (problem with that) It got to the point where we learned very little about sociology and was constantly being preached to about the evils of men and Republicans. She made a historical comment about Republicans which was blatantly false and me being in an irritable mood that day and having enough of being bashed because of my gender that day totally proved her wrong in front of the entire class. I decided that day it was time to bolt because I saw a large F looming in my future. The good thing is that next semester I took the class with another Prof by the name of Mrs Angela Trimitere, she is one of the greatest teachers I have ever known and one of the greatest people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. She has in her life raised 13 kids, 2 biological, 3 adopted, and 8 foster kids.

I post a lot at work and if the thread gets too big sometimes it freezes my computer and/or goes very slow.

The exception for me is condolence or get well-threads, congrats on the new baby, that sort of thing. I know it matters to the addressee and they will read all the responses. So, in that instance I don't feel so much like I'm just talking to myself.

But general conversation or debate threads, yes, I skip them when they become too large. Why should I be post #273? If there's a Thread Part II, I'll chime in on the first part of that.

I will do the same on condolence, congratulation threads etc. As for the others I wont touch them

16. Depends. I have dial-up, so,

those bigger threads get slow to load. If I want to participate in the discussion, I'll usually look and see if there are any other smaller threads on the same topic, first. But, if I am just interested in the subject matter and want to read the responses, I'll go ahead and open them up. :)
