Ay Caramba! "Simpsons" Movie Going
I know we've got lots of resident Simpsons fans on DU, so thought this might be of interest to some of you:

Get ready to toast your Flaming Moes to some excellent news.

The Simpsons movie is off the drawing board and in preproduction.

"You know what? We've just done the table read for The Simpsons movie, so although we've been promoting that we're going to do it, now we're actually doing it and are in production," Nancy Cartwright, who gives voice to Bart Simpson, told BBC Radio 1 this week.

Cartwright, in London doing publicity for her one-woman show, My Life as a Ten-Year-Old Boy, indicated that the movie is still in the preliminary script development stage and it will take at least two years before it's fully animated and ready for release.

1. I just hope it doesn't suck
I am not expecting to be let down (I have very rarely been let down by Groening and The Simpsons) but you never know...

2. ugh- sounds like they're using the current writers
can't they bring back people from the shows 90s glory days for something this big? the show used to have the most brilliant writng on tv, but the mediocre crew running things now have nearly run the show into the ground by dumbing it down and making it obnoxious

4. There Have Been Rumors Forever and I Have Mixed Feelings About It!
D'oh!

If it sucks, I'm going to be very, very dissapointed. I don't think it's necessarily a good idea to put it into theatres. Why don't they just do a two hour TV special?
