I'm home from work sick and bored...help!
I've been trying to nap and not having much luck - too tired to sleep I guess. I've read every book and watched every movie in the house a hundred times. I need something either to occupy my brain so I don't notice I feel like hell. Or something to shut my brain off so I go to sleep.

Suggestions are being gratefully accepted. There may be a prize for the winner. :-)

1. Is there any golf on TV?
If I turn on golf, I'll be asleep in 5 minutes.

That usually works for me in the evenings. Hope you feel better soon, VelmaD.

7. Thanks hon...
and I may try some hot tea here in a little bit. I'm just a little leery of putting anything in my stomach at the moment. I ate some crackers about a half hour ago and they aren't staying down well at all.

12. A long hot bath is usually...
my solution to all life's problems. Unfortunately I'm running a fever today and felling all hot and yucky so the hot bubblebath is probably out.

Never been to Adbuster I don't think. Will have to go take a peek.

10. Are you bored with surfing yet, Vel?
Have you tried looking up childhood friends on Google? Exploring the vast, uncharted territories of the Net? Putting on one of those movies you've seen a million times, turning down the sound and making up your own dialogue?

14. I'm still friends...
with all my childhood friend. No googling required to find 'em.

Honey, I've read X-rated Hobbitt fan fiction. I'm not sure there ARE any uncharted territories left on the Net after that. ;-)

Making up dialogue sounds like fun though. :-)

16. Oh. Well, I moved around a lot as a kid, 'cause my dad was in
the Army. So Googling to find out what became of them has become a favorite pastime.

X-rated Hobbit fan-fic? Ew! What does anyone find sexually appealing about a hobbit?

19. I'd imagine the other Hobbits...
find them appealing else there wouldn't be baby Hobbits.

Besides, I think Pippin from the movies is a cutie-pie. :-) Just gotta shave those feet - eew.

11. Try redecorating in your head
Whenever I need to sleep, I remodel/redecorate my house in my head. I do it so often and am so bored with it that it always puts me to sleep really fast *lol*

18. I want to redecorate...
especially my living room. This could be a fun long-term mental project.

I'm tired of the mismatched crap I accumulated during grad school. The rest of the house isn't too bad but I loathe my living room.

35. Maybe we could start a DU Quick Change
Ever see that one decorating show (I think it's called Surprised by Design) where they take a room and basically just rearrange/alter accessories/no major stuff and do what is called a "Quick Change?"
It's pretty fun - I think it's on TLC.

21. You could
send *anti-scorched earth* karma my way...shortbus has just poured like 10 gazillion gallons of gasoline into a particularly stubborn stump in the yard that he's been trying to burn for weeks and is now walking toward it with a flaming stick. :eyes:

Might not make you feel better, but at least the thought should offer some entertainment. :D

Hope you feel better. ;) :hi:

30. Oh shit...
I'm not sure whether to laugh because it takes real fuckin talent not to be able to set gasoline on fire. Or whether to be terrified at the thought of what he'll try next. If he starts breaking out explosives take the girls and drive to the nearest gas station before dialing 9-1-1.

I think I may have cracked a rib laughing. :7

He's given up on the stump for the mo' and has decided to take out his frustration on other things with the chainsaw. Then he's supposedly digging a giant hole or some such...dunno, I'm just treating it as tho one of the kids were outside playing, looking out now and then to make sure they've not killed themselves, otherwise letting him go about whatever grand scheme it is he's got in his head...might call him in shortly for some juice and cookies. ;)

33. Probably best...
to treat him like a kid...a big, bald kid. I really really hope he used up all the gasoline starting the fire and doesn't have enough to run that chainsaw.

Juice and cookies sounds good. After that I'm relying on you to distract him from his manly-woodsman thing. I'm sure you can think of something. ;-)
