What was the coolest job you ever had?
About six years ago, I worked as a sales support rep for a major entertainment media distributor. It was great because every few days or so I would get free screener copies of videos, as well as the occasional promotional item (I still have a bar of Fight Club soap). I also received huge discounts on CDs and videos. The downside was that the pay was absolutely dreadful. Also, I didn't get along well with my team leader. I'll be the first to admit I acted immaturely at times.

As you can probably tell, I'm in a rueful mood today because it's time for me to switch jobs. I'm not seeing much of a future where I'm at now.

But then I'd get your nice thread locked. :(

3. I taught Gymboree classes.

It was as fun as heck. My boss was a doofus (which is why I ultimately left), but the job itself was the most fun thing I ever did. I got to play with little kids and sing all day.

11. I still remember most of the songs after 6 years.
The only job I've ever had that resembled being creative or performing too. I hope your daughter has fun. :)

6. Worked at a grocery store...
And on stinking hot days, it was great to take my break in the dairy cooler in the back room where it was, well, much cooler!

It was actually not a bad job at the time (high school), interacting with people and cute cashiers. All my jobs since have been much more isolated.

7. I've never had a cool job.
Not even close.

If it's time for you to switch jobs, I can only offer the best of luck and many good wishes on your job search.

10. Thanks, T.
I saw the writing on the wall a few months ago, but I think it's finally time to act. I came very close to not showing up after last weekend, but my conscience kicked in (damn conscience).

9. Ice Cream Woman
Summer of 1970, Highland Park, NJ. One of the first women in NJ to drive an ice cream wagon. Didn't make much money, but it was a blast!

16. The one I have now.
I wouldn't trade my job for anything. I learn something new every day, and I've never had a "bad" customer. And it beats the hell out of the job I had for 20 years: journalist in the MSM.

17. My CG time, to be honest.
Getting paid to travel all over the world. Being part of the small percentage of people that have visited the Arctic and Antarctic. Piloting small boats through Atlantic storms. Search and Rescue, Law Enforcement, protecting wildlife and the environment. Much more too. It was great, but I'm glad it is over.
