Stuff You Want To Know.
I want to know who first looked at a coffee bean and thought, "how about if I burn that black, then grind it up, filter water through it, and drink the result?"

I want to know who that person was so if I get to heaven (for surely s/he is there) I can give him or her a big fat kiss and worship that person for eternity.

What do you want to know?

3. In regard to the coffee bean-
I read somewhere that a farmer in the middle east, many centuries ago, noticed his goats acted peculiar every time they grazed near a certain plant, which turned out to be coffee.

7. I think they treated it the same way one brews alcohol.
Since Muslims were forbidden to drink alcohol, they drank coffee instead. I'm sure it was all a happy accident. :)

I think this may have been the book:

6. I want to know how someone didn't give up on opening
a coconut.

Why didn't they just say "aw fuckit. it's not even worth it."

8. Along those same lines...
There's several roots and tubers which are poisonous
until cooked in very specific ways...

All I have to say is whoever figured out how to cook
them must've been *very* hungry.

First: "Well, there goes Frank..."
Second: "Too bad, check his notes."
First: "Okay, first Chuck seared it. (and died) Then
Mike soaked it in salt water. (and died) Then Ralf
buried it for a week. (and died) Then Carl boiled it.
(and died) Then Ramon boiled it again. (and died)
Then Clarence baked it. (and died) Frank roasted it on
a spit. (and died)"
Second: "It's too bad this is the only thing around
to eat."
First: "Yeah, I'm going to try what the others did...
Except, I'm going to deep fry it at the end."
Second: "Great! Be sure to keep notes."
First: "Dang, I'm hungry!"
Second: "Me too."

or something like that...

:)
