I hate it when no--one gets my jokes.... but an interesting story was told

I walked in to a gas station and the clerk was very happy. "HEY! HOW YOU DOING?" he says. "Not bad. Yourself?" I answered.

"I'm alive so I'm doing well!" He said.
"Well, you work at a gas station, so that's a blessing to count," sez I.

He didn't get I was refering to gas station attendents getting shot and stab all the time.
But he told me a story from that day.

Some makeshift modern day aristocrat pulled up in a GMC Excursion or something (An F350 compensator as Canuckamok likes to call em). The attendent asked, "regular?" And the guy said in a rather snotty tone, "I only put the best in my toys."

Then, according to the attendent, as he was walking around the truck he heard the father say to his son, "I never wanna see you working a job like that. It's the lowest of the low."

The attendent was really offended by it. I felt bad for him. Anyone doing honest work deserves respect.

Fucking prick, and we're sending young men are dying so dicks like that can drive their "toys" around.

5. Similiar to something I overhead at work years ago

Very wealthy owner brings son into the warehouse from time to time to give him some "real world" experience. This man is a millionaire, not simply your average wealthy man. He was born into a wealthy family and he told me many times that this particular business was merely a "hobby" to give him something to do.

The son was helping pull orders, very hard work and it was hot, hot HOT in the warehouse that day. Owner remarks to son "this is why you have to go to University. So you don't have to do menial labor like this". Now I know the father meant well and was trying to impress upon the son that he should continue his education after high school. But he spoke in front of the two VERY hard-working men that support their families by doing this kind of "menial" work. Anyway, it really bothered the guys in the warehouse because they work so hard at earning an honest living and it was very disrespectful to refer to their work as menial. Especially when you know the history of the family and we all knew that this man had not worked hard to get to where he was. His grandfather worked hard years ago and that is where the family attained their wealth.

On a side note - he would sometimes actually entertain the employees at his house during the Christmas season. I walked into their kitchen during the Christmas party, only to hear his wife complaining about having "those people" in her home. And later when I was shooting pool at this party with their eldest son (14 at the time), the son casually remarked "You better let me win or I will tell my Dad to fire you". Yeah, he was joking. Funny kid, huh?

I was glad when I left that company because they had no respect at all for real hard-working people.

Dude I've done THAT job lemme tell ya..

Same shit I remember the owner once had a huge party we knew about for one reason or another.... we knew for weeks. But the NIGHT of the party we all got an invite..total afterthought.
And the Warehouse Manager had the nerve to try to guilt trip us because, the owner "Was upset no-one showed." Ha!

My father told me something similiar to the thing you said.... but he NEVER said it in front of employees.

However, he had every right to say it... he grew up DIRT poor in Vancouver slums. His Dad used to come home and say, "I've sold the house... we have to move."
But despite that he put himself through two years of Univeristy before he couldn't afford it anymore... then started his own business... which still does well because of customer service despite big box competetion.

He just thought I meant something like, "Your job doesn't suck as much as mine."

You're right though, hopefully the son realizes that's not the way to be... Sickly enough... I hope he doesn't see his dad as an ass. It's important you have respect for your father.
