I'm listening to Jeff Beck for the first time
(That I'm aware of, let's put it that way...) Anyway, he seems awfully good. The cd is entitled What Else! I'm guessing that there is much more material of his that I am missing. O happy days!

1. I would suggest that you search out...
Some of his earliest albums, like "Beckola" or the apple album.

Here the roots of metal. Then get the "Orange" album and hear some of the best music ever made.

8. He is? God damn, I'm disappointed.
Note to OP: Listen to "Truth."

Tonight's trivia: Did you know that Rod Stewart, when he was just starting out as the singer for Jeff Beck's band, had such horrible stage fright that he would sing facing away from the audience?

This is not just a myth; I saw him do it at the Electric Factory in Philadelphia.

Yes, I'm old.

11. Their first American date...
Was at the Fillmore East, opening for the Grateful Dead.

Rod sang the first song from behind the amps. Scared he was.

The crowd went wild. The rest is history.

14. Ah, the old days, before rock and roll went
to hell in a handcart.

I date the decline of rock to whenever it was that bands started giving their yearly tours a name.

13. He and Rod Stewart did an amazing
version of "There's a train acoming..." gives me chills.

I had grown to despise Stewart (so very pop) - and didn't know Beck - when I heard this in the late 80s - it is moving. And while it is spiritual in nature - I responded to it even though I was very agnostic at the time.
