About Tom Cruise? What has he done recently that has brought all this down upon him?

6. He's been going on creepy little rants about medication for kids
and he said something nasty about Brooke Shields I think, but other than that, my best guess is because he's kind of a tool, and his last good movie was Top Gun.

7. Pure Jealousy
All of the men are jealous of Tom because he could have any woman or gay man that he wants. All of the women are jealous of all of the women that Tom could have, instead of them.

Him having hundreds of millions of dollars and a good career.

He spawns a lot of bitterness and envy.

8. He's trying to influence public health policy.
In my view, it has nothing to do with Katie Holmes (who is 26 years old, a consenting adult), his sexuality, his religion or the quality of his films.

Tom Cruise is a religious zealot not unlike Jerry Falwell and other religious zealots who attempt to leverage their religious beliefs to influence public health policy for the rest of us who may not share those beliefs.

Decide for yourself:

Tom Cruise: Psychiatry Should Be Outlawed
http://www.imdb.com/news/wenn/2004-01-09
"Movie superstar Tom Cruise has hit out at Hollywood's therapy culture, insisting the practice of psychiatry is a "waste of time" and should be made illegal. While many American stars admit attending regular sessions with probing therapists, Cruise follows the line of thinking adopted by his religion, the controversial Church Of Scientology, and refuses to accept psychiatry as a legitimate form of self-improvement. The actor, 41, says, "I think it's an utter waste of time. There's nothing scientific about it. "Communication is a good thing but I think people get more mentally out of having a good meal or going for a walk. "I think psychiatry should be outlawed. I can't believe electric shock therapy is still used. I think it definitely does more harm than good."

10. Really, that's the only thing I have against Tom Cruise.
He's aligned with a religion that conducts expensive "auditing" sessions which compete directly with psychiatry, and while I believe he has every right to express his apprehension about psychiatry, I have to question his credibility when he calls for psychiatry to be "outlawed." :hi:

13. Even worse . . .
because he has so much clout (sales of Rayban sunglasses skyrocketed after "Risky Business"), he may be endangering the lives of people who really need psychiatric care.

18. Nailed that one
Yes, he's an actor who is part of a goofy $$$$ cult yet is qualified to pass judgement on a branch of a medical profession. :wtf:

And why psychiatry and not oncology, for example? Why isn't he claiming that instead of chemotherapy and radiation people should rely on prayer and macrobiotics?

Just because he is a famous actor doesn't give him the right to use that to try to influence public policy.

But then again, my Pop Culture radar is pretty weak. If it's not printed in the newspaper, I generally miss it.

17. I'm kinda dreading "War of the Worlds."
I read the H. G. Wells book, heard the Orson Wells radio broadcast, then saw the 1953 movie starring Gene Barry (Sylvia!).http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0046534/photogallery
The Martian effects were then copied to a large extent in "Robinson Crusoe on Mars."

When I saw Spielberg's "AI," I loved it. Until the end. He copped out. I'm afraid of what he might have done to this great story.

15. Damned if I know, Bunky
Perhaps it really is the communist-coddling, socialist-serving, lib-lesbian-loonie-leftist Politically Correct cnospiracy trying to desexualize highly desirable, sexually potent, masculine men.

Thankfully, I am safe on all counts.
