Summertime's a beach for us. Whatchoo got planned?
Edited on Sun Jun-12-05 06:13 PM by jandrok
Specifically West Beach in Galveston next weekend. We got the hotel rservations made and we're on the road Friday. We'll hit the sand as soon as we check in.

We'll be doing Port Aransas and/or Corpus later on this summer. Probably gonna rent a beach condo for a few days. Might even try to hit Victoria or Freeport, too.

Gotta have the surf and sun in the summertime. No big vacation plans this year, just wanna dip our toes in the ocean.

What have you got planned?

1. I don't have much vacation time
so I'll be working most of the summer. A friend from out of state is coming to visit me later this summer, though, and I will take what little vacation time I have to spend it with her.

2. Don't really vaca in summer, too many families around making long lines.
Couple of days in Montreal possibly, and we hit the beach or ride the Harley on the weekend, so relaxing.

3. No vacation but
I'm gonna learn to kayak. There's some great whitewater just 20 minutes away from my house.

4. I have a 12 year old and since day camp is too
expensive ($80.00 a day minimum around here), I keep her occupied with outings to museums, the beach, etc.

Also plan on taking her to visit her aunt in Las Vegas and up to the local mountains for 4th of July at a friend's cabin.

Last day of school is Thursday and she and I both can't wait.

10. Thanks for the link.
Unfortunately, it's not coming anywhere near us. Ft Lauderdale will be the closest.

Have fun at that one! You are getting a rare opportunity.

9. Not much vacation time accumulated so I'll work.
I may go see some concerts this summer....thinking about seeing Trey Anastasio and Ben Harper...Matisyahu will be in St Louis on Wednesday and if I can force myself to go out on a work night I might go see him.

There's a String Cheese Incident Festival going on at some minor league ball park on the Illinois side of the river (as we say in these parts) and I think Bob Dylan is supposed to be there.

I don't like taking days off in the summer anyway because it's SO hot and humid around here.

11. Those are some good summertime sounds....
...that you have lined up.

It's hot and hunid here, too, that's the main reason why we seek out the water.

Have a good time at those shows!

Maybe next summer *if* my financial situation improves.

On edit: Enjoy your vacation, jandrok, sounds like a good summer for you and your family! I live in Houston, but haven't been to Galveston for a while.

14. We're definitely looking forward to it.
Thanks, Lady E. We used to go to Galveston a lot when we lived in H-Town, but now we only go once a year or so, and usually combine that with a visit to the in-laws.

Those hot and humid summers there would always drive us to the ocean. Now we got hot and a little less humid, and a lot farther to drive to get to the sand, but we still feel the pull.

15. Work, work and more work.
Edited on Mon Jun-13-05 09:01 AM by RebelOne
I already took my vacation last month in Gatlinburg, Tennessee in the Smoky Mountains. I prefer the mountains to beaches. I lived in Miami, Florida most of my life and got my fill of beaches.
