"Tornadic Activity" in central Indiana
never heard the term before. Sirens just sounded, got relocated in the house, turned on the radio - and they keep referring to "tornadic activity". Guess there are a series of thunderstorms with very low pressure (not sure why that is imp) and thus it is possible that tornadoes can be spurred.

Ever heard of such a phenomenon?

3. You should be okay
yep its from Arlene - but we are further north than you (Indy) - and they are moving north east. Probably more problems north of you.

7. the announcer keeps showing he is an idiot
says that there has been only one touch down.... but then refers to the storms that are moving as "the tornado should be near.... at (specified time). Hey idiot - it isn't a tornado that is moving it is a storm that could spur a tornado. Idiot.

Dang - the sirens just started up again...

6. Yep-every few days in MO.
Just means that conditions are perfect to begin a tornado. Difference is that we don't sound the sirens until one has usually been spotted.

9. Heard them referred to as "localized vortex winds" on W. coast
as insurance doesn't cover tornados. One of the things I do not miss from living in the plains states.

10. fckn idiot announcer just said
while there has been little (spinning) activity on the ground, those of you who have taken the opportunity to go outside and look up to the sky have reported a lot of activity up in the air - things spinning in every which way...

Idiot announcer cannot be from Indiana. We KNOW better than to go outside and stare at the sky when it is that turbulent - I've witnessed a funnel cloud touching down and going through the land(fortunately I was inside and it didn't hit the house... and for those not in tornado land a funnel cloud is like a mini tornado - not quite fast enough to "qualify"") - these things can in the flick of an eye come and touch down.

What an idiot. Go tell people to go outside when it gets bad and look up at the sky.
