Well, I have my weekends back. :P

After doing them for 10-15 years, you'll get over it and start looking forward to the end of the season.

2. Were you a cast member/performer?

and that's quite a while to be doing renfests. Did you travel, also?

3. Kinda?

I attended a local fair for a couple years, then worked at it for a few in various ways. Then atteneded heavily for a few more. I got to the point where I had a serious case of the "been there, done thats." So I now only visit it maybe once a season, just to say hi to friends and see what, if anything, is new.

I have some friends who continue working there, and who still love it. But still they are a bit relieved when the season ends.

A couple make their entire living from the various faires, so for them the season starts in spring and ends in late fall. For them, the end of the season seems like a momentary relief. But then they need to prepare for the next season, and stretch their income over the winter months.

Still, faires are great fun. I've just developed other interests.

4. As for me

been a visitor since '96, regular since '99. My brother was a cast member this year. We have the strong family resemblence (I get mistaken for him), and I became an "honorary" character. My brother was one of the bad guys (henchman to the Sheriff of Nottingham) and I became his good cousin. I was in costume and interacted with the cast and patrons. Had a great time!

5. Aw, too bad.

It's always funner to be the bad guy. ;)

That said, it's also much harder to be entertaining while being the good guy. Not as much "meat" in that kind of role.

I did a one season stint in a minor bad guy role. It was fun, but I think our group was more chaotic than the faire management was happy with, so we weren't invited back. :(

6. Quite right

I was one of the villagers (cast members) as opposed to the stage acts and shoppe keepers.

My brother had much fun as one of the bad guys. :D
