Yesterday, early evening, I was really sleepy because I had done a lot of gardening and painting in the hot sun. I could barely keep my eyes open and as I slept on the couch, the TV was going.
It seems that everytime I woke up there was incredibly blatant bush propoganda on. There was some utterly bizarre segment on one of the news shows about bush's dogs. I think Al Roker was doing the interview, trying to humanize the shrub. What was so sad, was that the dogs' emotional response to bush veered somewhere between utter indifference and cowering fear. The dogs simply would not go anywhere near the guy when he tried to call them. What human being who owns a dog gets that kind of response from his dogs? Does he beat his dogs? Is he the kind of person even a dog doesn't like?
Then, there was something on the National Geographic (or was it discovery? or was it TLC?) channel about shock and awe in Iraq. They had still, black and white pictures of bush, looking over half lens glasses, supposedly "making decisions" at zero hour. (Remember: "be-in presdent is hard work".) Since when does bush wear glasses? And if he needs them, why look over them? And why black and white stills -- to make us subconsciously think of all those pictures of Kennedy, Johnson and Nixon, actually contemplating issues of war and peace in the Oval Office? It looked ludicrous, like dressing up a slightly unintelligent dog as president.
Then another time I woke up there was a segment on a newshow (was it 20/20 or primetime or does it make a difference?) about two ATF guys finding weapons in a storage facility, and in the middle of the segment, they take several minutes to talk about one agent's faith and actually show him praying in church.
I know the MSM has gone way down hill, but this was utterly bizarre, and because I was only half awake, it seemed more surreal. Did anyone else see this or was it just a bad dream? Please tell me I was dreaming!
