Arrrggghh! It's under my own roof
I think I may have mentioned I'm in a politically mixed marriage. Hubby is a registered Republican. This morning I asked him if he feels betrayed by Bush and company in light of the Downing Street Minutes.

His response: 'I guess I could answer that if I knew what those were'.

I hate our media, I hate our President, I hate neo-cons, I hate ignorant voters and this morning my husband made me just want to vomit. Thanks for letting me vent.

:argh:

1. OOoooohhhhh. How long have you been married? I can't imagine-
seriously. I am very curious about how folks deal with your situation. What do you have in common?:wow:

2. My wife was a Republican
We've been married 8 years. She's very pro-life.

But, she voted all Democratic last year. But, I guess having a DEC member, and Congressional candidate in the house helped sway her.

4. I think I can undestand why a strongly pro-life person might vote for
a republican...but what about the war? How pro-life is that? Glad to hear she voted democrat last time around. It takes a while for some people to see the big picture behind their convictions.

3. We've been married over 9 years.
In common we have sports, music, travel, antique poster collecting, movies and most importantly our 3 1/2 year old son. I met him during the first Clinton administration and since he never bashed Mr. or Mrs. Clinton nor made any negative comments regarding policy decision or Monica Lewinsky, how was I to know he leaned to the right.

Truth be told, I think he votes Republican out of family habit. An online poll I had him complete during the last election had him most closely matching Edwards! Hubby would technically be a 'social liberal' and 'fiscal conservative'. He still couldn't bring himself to vote democrat. I blame his father for being a narrow-minded bigot and I blame him for being so damn politically apathetic he can't be bothered to pay attention.

GWB and war in Iraq has definitely become a bone of contention in my household and I pray every day the U.S. news media will finally start reporting some fucking news. Hubby would believe something coming from Lou Dobbs mouth more than my summation of an internet article. Frustration defined.

6. He's 39 and his home state is often refered to as
The Socialist State of Massachusetts. At least that's how members of his family describe it. Interestingly enough, his grandfather (soon to be 90), also a life-long Republican, despises Bush now. At our next visit, I hope to get him rolling on the topic while hubby is in the room. :-)

He needs to hear why others are turning from the dark side.

7. Good luck to you! You sound like a devoted and caring partner
who really wants the best for him. Yes...we have to go easy or it'll spook 'em!:hi:
