Best way to paint plastic?
Today I bought a pair of sunglasses for a costume. I'd checked everywhere else and found nothing similar or as gothic looking. The frame is chrome, with dark lenses. Surrounding the lens is a gray round piece extending over and around the lens.

I want to paint this gray portion black.

The lenses can't be removed and they help hold the gray round piece in place.

Should I try painting them and, if so, what is the best method?

Thanks!

1. Hobby enamel might work.
The stuff they make for painting plastic model cars and planes. It's definitely designed to paint plastic surfaces.

2. I'd mask the lenses and use spray paint.
Do it soon so by tomorrow the fumes won't be so strong.

3. Use a black marker, like a sharpie or El Marko...
Quick, black, and cheap.

4. Scuff up the surface with fine grit sandpaper
Otherwise it will just flake off.

5. Check your local hardware store
There's a new kind of spray paint available which will paint plastic. Works like a charm.
