All right, Fess up. Who here is packing Heat?
Edited on Mon Jun-13-05 10:37 PM by enigami
I thought of this because my office is in a "bad neighborhood" ( I am spending the night here), and I just went out to check my vehicle.

Who here carries, sleeps or otherwise remains armed?

1. I have six feet...
Of fine tapered hickory, and eku and two tuifa. Does that count as heat? ;-)

This shit has no place in the Lounge.

Thank you.

Edited on Mon Jun-13-05 11:04 PM by Redstone
like "no need to piddle." You should get to know your neighbros a little better before you talk down to them like that, buddy.

There are those of us who, having been shot by a gun, having shot someone else with one, or both, do not find the subject fascinating at all. Or even amusing.

So how about a little bit of respect for your fellow DUers who might want to have a place where the guns are checked at the door , and we can get a night off from thinking about them.

A little bit of courtesy, in other words.

So, you know the people in the gungeon all have guns? Fine. then go THERE and talk about them, that's what the place is for.

The Lounge isn't.

And if you "weren't trying to start something," why post this in the Lounge?

21. enough said
my original question was not intended to upset or offend anyone. Like I said I was just curious.

You are the one That came snarling out of the gate.
I see a lot of threads that don't interest me, I don't respond. I am not looking to be offended nor am I looking to offend.

They are looking for moderators I hear.

By the way I loved your pictures of the hawk.

22. He was a juvie Bald Eagle, not a hawk. Still comes around to visit,
so I must have done a good job raising him. What's your interest? Or are you expecting me to be apprehensive in some way about this reference? Won't happen. Sorry about that.

And why are you advising me that 'they are' looking for moderators?

You're being dishonest here. Just come out and say what you have to say, would you? Or would you rather hide behind cryptic messages and references?

Most real DUers don't do that.

25. Dude
I am being totally honest. I mentioned the Hawk (juvie Bald Eagle)
Because it was a beautiful post and I remember it. (don't know why I didn't remember it was an eagle)I share an interest in wildlife.

I was trying to lighten things up and point out that different things offend different people and apologize a little at the same time. sometimes my sense of humor doesn't come across in text.

I also sent you a pm

Please accept my apology

5. You have to be wealthy or well connected politically to get a CCW in Jerse
so I don't carry. Probably would if I could.

6. So your plan is to shoot up the neighborhood? Kinda like a war on a noun?
Actually, peppere spray or, perhaps, a shotgun would make more sense. Hey, I've got it, work on getting a new job.

8. didn't carry but had it at my wood shop
It was my partners but we both worked late and would need the bay door open when we were gluing.

Not in a bad area now but I'm sitting in the office tonight so our contract person doesn't have to leave alone when she finishes pricing a proposal we are working on.

9. I'm guilty
Got the .357 magnum 6 inch barrel right here in my room in a drawer (I live in Arizona and there are presently no other people in the house)

Why do I keep the piece here close to me?

I dunno it's something I was raised with I guess being around guns so much what seperates me from a neo-con gun nut I guess is that I've seen what firearms can do to people firsthand and I only keep it with the hopes of never having to actually use it

10. Me
and I hate it. However farm life almost requires it, you never know what might come up. I am out there alone everyday, no problems usually but you can not even imagine the strange people who will drive up a private road, up to a barn and get out of the car to come talk to you. Very scary sometimes. So, the heat is there just in case. I did use it to scare of a roving pack of dogs once. Again, not usual but it has happened. I will probably never use it to kill anything, only if really threatened with no other recourse. If I aim I will hit whatever is there.

I used to carry a box cutter. My ex bought me an antique ivory handled straight razor. I never leave home without it.

Not nice. Not nice at all. I know. But definitely stylish :)

13. Another Woodswoman with "heat"
Hey, can you screw in an exhaust fan with guards into one of the windows? That might pull out the fumes without leaving you so vulnerable.

23. permit to carry in public.
carrying a handgun got me out of trouble twice when a bunch of rednecks accosted me and some hippie friends in small country bar parking lots. otherwise we might have wound up dead and the two women i was with raped by the goons.

i have no qualms about defending myself with a firearm if my life is threatened.

24. I have a shotgun.
I live in a cabin in the woods, alone, with one child. It was broken into three times before it was finished. I don't take any chances.

If anyone ever breaks in on us, I'll back into a corner in my bedroom with my son behind me, and god help the person at the other end of my barrel.
