Whose death was the cheeziest?
Cmdr Yar, season 1 of Star Trek the Next Generation, episode "Skin of Evil"

or

Cmdr Data, movie "Star Trek: Nemesis" (2002)

Tough call. Yar's death and funeral was corny.

But Data's death was not just corny, it was tired, uninspired, used ripped-off dialogue to pass away the time, and had a massive cop-out by allowing Data to return in the most obvious of ways -- all in one go.

2. Yar. Simply suckage.
I don't know why they don't hand the Star Trek movie franchise to big directors. They could do it like the Batman films, or the Alien films; let different directors put together different looks at the franchise.

You might have a Ridley Scott Star Trek that's all dark and scary, a James Cameron Star Trek with massive firefights and explosions, a Tim Burton Star Trek that's brooding and off-center...

Anyway, I'm wandering again- Yar's death was cheesiest.

3. Great points and a worthy wander indeed!
I'm still set that Data's was cheezier, but big name directors would have helped improve the movie and the franchise. If the characters are done right, good direction can make up for mediocre writing...

A James Cameron Trek... Action is never (usually) bad, but Trek drew me to it with its take on the human condition and intrigue.

4. Nemesis was a pile of turd.
Crap film......really, really bad.

Lazy, uninventive, utterly pointless...

Annoyingly it was based on a decent, interesting premise, but they didn't bother to develop any of the good areas of plot. The characters behaved totally out of character (Picard just toodles down to a planet for a laugh, disturbs the natives and shoots at them??? Why?).

The worst thing though, was that the Picard clone looked like Dr Evil from Austin Powers, so I could never take the twat seriously.

IMHO of course.
