Tom Cruise isn’t real clear on the facts

Tuesday - June 14, 2005

From IMDB: “Tom Cruise's beliefs in Scientology are based on misinformation, according to Entertainment Weekly - after editors checked facts from a recent interview … Just weeks after accusing Brooke Shields of being ‘misinformed’ after she championed anti-depressants for helping her deal with post-partum depression, Cruise made a couple of sweeping statements to Entertainment Weekly (who checked) Cruise's comments and found out he wasn't accurate. Supporting Scientology claims that psychiatry is ‘a Nazi science’, Cruise stated, ‘Carl Jung … was an editor for the Nazi papers during World War Two,’ … (EW) researchers discovered this is untrue … The movie star continued, ‘Look at the experimentation the Nazis did with electric shock and drugging. Look at the drug methadone. That was originally called Adolophine. It was named after Adolph Hitler.’ The magazine also questions Cruise on this point, explaining, ‘According to the Dictionary Of Drugs And Medications, this is an urban legend.’”

This sure does feel like another witch hunt from the liberal media, cause if they have some proof that this religion - founded by a science fiction writer and based on million year old aliens trapped in volcano prisons - is some sort of sham, well, I would like to see that, sir. I would like to see your “proof” very much.

And have his factual inaccuracies treated by morons like Wolf Blitzer as FACT.

It's in the Constitution somewhere.

6. Has anyone stopped to think
that this is a product of Scientology brainwashing? They are quite effective at doing it. Everyone here seems to want to just find new ways to jump on the WE H8 TOM CRUISE!!1!! bandwagon, but no one seems to want to address the cancer of Scientology that is brainwashing not just the actors they claim, but thousands of everyday Americans who end up financially broken, emotinonally dead, poor, broke, and many times killing themselves.

13. I address it every time the subject comes up
from the suicide of Hubbard's son because he was gay to the murder of Lisa McPherson.

It's not just Americans who end up financially ruined, etc. It's just as prevalent in Europe.

It's not a religion, it's a profit center who bought their way into tax-exempt status as a "church."

If EW can bother to fact-check TC why can't the MSM fact-check GW and his minions? And then report the findings to all the inquiring minds who want to know?

All of L. Ron Hubbard's "teachings" are still very much alive and suckering in people every day.

32. No, Travolta's agent keeps him on a shorter leash.
A&E had a great two hour "Inside Scientology" program. It might still be available on VHS from their Web Site.

Travolta (and Isaac Hayes) spoke EXTENSIVELY throughout the program.

What we're witnessing is Cruise's dismissal of his manager (who told him he should speak less about Scientology, and was fired the next day) and the introduction of his NEW manager...his SISTER, also a fellow Scientologist.

This has been the "real" Tom Cruise all along. The public sees the 500-watt toothy grin and the "action hero" crap. What he REALLY gets satisfaction from is ridding the world of evil body thetans.

Scientology is a crock of shit, the people that follow (or should I say swallow) it are easily manipulated, weak-minded numbskulls, and I really don't give a shit...

33. It's not news...he's just upped the ante.
His sister is now his manager. She's a Scientologist. No one is telling him to tone it down anymore.

He doesn't realize (or doesn't care) that the average person "paying their way up the bridge" doesn't get their ass kissed as much as he does.

Like the time he told head guy David Miscavige that he had a fantasy about romping with Nicole through a field of wheat:

http://www.factnet.org/Scientology/celebrities_con.html

Celebrities' Endorsements of Scientology a Scam

Scientology's celebrities are running a global scam on their fans and on the media. Stars like John Travolta, Tom Cruise, Chick Corea, Kirstie Alley, Nicole Kidman, Kelly Preston, Priscilla Presley, Lisa Presley, and others are secretly being given lucrative compensation for endorsing Scientology. In the recent film The Truman Show, Truman's wife incessantly pitched ads for household items, while her unaware husband was convinced she was simply stating her sincere fondness for the goods. In the same way, star Scientologists have betrayed their fans and hoodwinked interviewers by acting as though glowing endorsements of Scientology are strictly from the heart, of their own accord, and certainly not paid Scientology advertisements.

In reality, Scientology's celebrities are compensated richly for endorsements with:
Free Scientology services costing up to $1,000 dollars per hour. John Travolta alone has had in excess of $100,000 of free services in compensation.

Commissions of up to 10% for bringing people into Scientology (who subsequently pay hundreds of thousands of dollars for Scientology's services). One or more Scientology staff being sent to travel full time with celebrities as "support," at Scientology's expense.

Free luxury accommodations and carte blanc use of the finest Scientology facilities and properties. Scientology's current leader David Miscavige learned that after Tom Cruise divorced Mimi Rogers, he was persuing Nicole Kidman. Miscavige also learns that Cruise has a fantasy of running through a field of tall wheat grass with Kidman. So, Miscavige orders a section of Scientology's desert compound in Giman Hot Springs to be plowed under and planted with wheat. At a cost of tens of thousands of dollars, and through the slave labor of cult members who work all day and all night for weeks, a field of tall wheat grass is grown in the desert so that Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman may run though it. During their visit, Cruise and Kidman are provided the additional luxuries of a specially prepared suite, maids, and two four-star chefs, all at scientology's expense as a quid pro quo exchange for Cruise's endorsements of Scientology.

41. I knew about Sri Chinmoy, but never heard about Scientology
He doesn't appear on any of the celebrity lists, either.

http://www.rickross.com/reference/ramtha/ramtha1.html

Behind every celebrity, it seems, stands a guru. Sometimes, the guru stands under him. In 1988 and '89, Sri Chinmoy, a fifty-nine-year-old Bangladeshi spiritual teacher and physical fitness buff--whose followers have included Carlos Santana, Sheena Easton, and track star Carl Lewis--toured seventeen countries, hoisting the likes of the Prime Minister of Iceland, two San Francisco 49ers, and Eddie Murphy into the air by means of a Nautilus-like contraption. Weight lifting is "the perfect analogy to the spiritual life," explains one devotee. "As the dead weight is lifted up, so also a person's lower, unilluminated being can be lifted to a level of increased peace, light, and delight." "He's constantly inspiring me," adds music producer Narada Michael Walden, who's done albums for Whitney Houston and Aretha Franklin. "He reminds me of God."
