every have trouble with your bookmarks disappearing? I went to click on my "favorites" or what they call "bookmarks" and for the SECOND TIME THEY"RE GONE! WTF is going on?

1. Sounds like you have a problem with your profile.

Mozilla lets you use profiles to log in, and each profile has its own set of bookmarks and so on (incidentally, they were called Bookmarks for years and years before Microsoft re-branded them Favorites in IE). Try using the Profile Manager in the Mozilla START menu directory. Barring that, uninstall and re-install. If that still doesn't work, you may have some Spyware damage.

what a pain in the ass. I tried to find them in the Profile Manager and they're gone. I have no idea what the hell happened to them. I tried emailing Firefox about this and got no response.

3. Well, that's why. If you have NO profile, there's nothing saved.

If you're running Windows 2000 or Windows XP, try going to the following folder (where "username" is whatever you log into the computer with):

C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles\default

You will see a folder in there named something.slt. If you don't see that folder, then that is your problem. If you DO see that folder, then you are in luck. Go make a new profile in the profile manager, and copy the contents of that .slt folder into the new .slt folder.

Odds are, though, just uninstalling and re-installing Firefox will do the trick. To be doubly sure, re-download it. Sometimes installation packages get boffed up when they are downloaded.

so they're gone.
