Brownell whiffed every batter in perfect game

OAKFIELD, N.Y. -- While most young ballplayers dream of making it to the big leagues, 11-year-old Katie Brownell already has Cooperstown calling.

Brownell, the only girl in her Little League, made national headlines last month when she tossed a perfect game by striking out every batter she faced.

Now, the National Baseball Hall of Fame wants to put her jersey on display in the same shrine that includes items from Babe Ruth, Joe DiMaggio and Hank Aaron. In fact, the hall will host a program for Katie and her Dodger teammates July 7, when the young pitcher will donate her jersey.

1. Just a weird question...

What's her velocity like in comparison to boys the same age?

I would like to think that the only thing that would ever truly hinder (other than politics/sexual harrassment)is physical ability and most scouts will look at velocity first and foremost from a pitcher (especially since a good fastball sets up all other breaking pitches).

So I'm curious if her velocity is on par with the other boys' because it would be interesting to see a female pitcher in the bigs throwing in the mid-90s someday.
