Update on the AAR - XM deal and Sirius, etc.
Edited on Tue Jun-14-05 06:52 PM by ET Awful
I just received an e-mail from them saying that the cutoff date is July 11. Here's the mail:

Dear Loyal Air America Radio Listeners:

As you are aware, beginning July 11th, Air America Radio will broadcast exclusively with XM Satellite Radio. This partnership is giving us an extra leg to stand on, allows us to develop more programming, and moves us forward into the future with a strong foundation.

We recognize that this change has inconvenienced you. We greatly value your support for Air America Radio and would like to offer you a special promotion from Air America Radio and XM Radio, which we intend to send out next week.

Thank you very much for expressing your concerns to us, for your patience during this time of transition, and most important of all, for your continued support for Air America Radio.

Kind regards,

Air America Radio

1. I hope it is a really good deal for the Sirius people. You know AAR
doesn't want to lose people. They are trying to expand their reach.

and has a lot of much better choices of other stuff besides AAR. Hard as it may be to believe, AAR is not the ONLY thing I listen to. :D

And what is the word on Clear Channel owning XM?

6. It's the only thing I listen to on Sirius, so I'll probably be cancelling
my Sirius account.

I may or may not get XM. I want to, but I'd rather put the money toward new photography equipment.

I can get AM reception of a local AAR affiliate, it's not really clear, but I can hear it.

4. Did you know that Sirius offered DJ Cousin Brucie a job
after he was so classlessly kicked off his New York city oldies station job? No going away show, no chance to say goodbye, they just went from one genre to another.

Between him, Howard Stern, and the NFL, maybe XM won't be buying them out within a year after all!

5. All in all, Sirius just sounds like a much better company than XM.

7. I'm holding out for now.
I've been thinking of installing satellite radio in my Jeep.

I'm uncertain if there's any room or real market for two satellite radio stations. One of them will eventually fold (or be bought out by the other).

I'd rather not invest in the hardware then find it useless someday.

Then again, assuming there's a buyout, the equipment shouldn't be an issue.

As long as whomever dominates keeps at least one or two hard rock or metal formats I'll sign-up eventually.
