Best Disney movie ever. Aristocats.

I'm watching it with my son right now. I love the artwork and music in it.

What's your fave Disney film, and why?

1. Robin Hood

I have no idea why. Peter Ustinov is fucking brilliant in it, though.

The cartoon one is sooo cute! I love it.

2. Fantasia. Then in no particular order: Sleeping Beauty, Snow White,

Old Yeller (although it did tramatize me), Moonraker (I liked Haley Mills), Pollyanna, The Rescuers, Shrek I and II, and on and on, etc.

Why? Because Walt Disney was an absolute genius. And some of men who carried on his legacy (movie-wise) were too.

Splash was funny too now that I think about it. I forgot about that one. It was so Un-Disneyesque.

3. Mulan. I just love the scene (and the song)

"I'll make a man out of you."

Eddie Murphy was funny as all get out as Mushoo, an undersized dragon with big hopes.

Really well done. Funny, exciting, suspenseful. And even a little romance was involved.

4. Aristocats was definitely my favorite when growing up.

I love the artwork also.

Aristocats and 101 Dalmatians are my favorites. 101 Dalmatians was the first movie I ever saw.

That one is good too. I was a huge fan of 101. I have some of the little stuffed animals I got for my birthday back when I was in second/third grade.

Old ones? Pinocchio has the best art. There's no way anyone could ever again put that much effort into an animated film. Just look at the way they rendered little background details like the wood carvings on a bed's headboard, or the attention they lavished on little throwaway scenes with the goldfish...

Newer ones, from the era starting in the late 80s when they decided to make good animation again? I like Lion King's story and score. I think "Emperor's New Groove" is the funniest.

We used to have a Disney animator here on DU -- Jen6. I haven't noticed her around in a long time...

6. Sleeping Beauty, Beauty &the Beast,101 DaImations, Lion King...love Disney

I'm a huge cheeseball. "Once Upon a Dream", I love that song. :blush:

A better question for me would be which ones I didn't like, and that's simple: all the ones past Lion King and before the Pixar affiliation. Though, Snow White's voice is irritating as hell. And Mulan was okay.

I'm kind of sad they seem to be going to CGI, though. Sometimes plain ole art is fine.

11. Robin Hood or the Aristocats

The Lion King is probably a more technically proficient movie (and the voice cast is great,) I just prefer the escapism and music in the earlier movies (I also don't want to encorage the Lucas like special edition/added scene crap, especially since the new song added nothing to the movie.) Finding Nemo is my favorite of the Disney/Pixar movies, it's really amazing how vibrant the light and color of the ocean scenes are.

Robin Williams should have got an Oscar for playing the Genie.
