According to my opthalmologist, my eye is a "worst case scenario"

I had always thought that they could remove the cataract (which was caused by treatment for uveitis/ macular degeneration)..

He has prescribed new drops to try to "untangle" some bloodvessels that have grown into my iris..eew).. Naturally it has not worked, so now I have some additional drops and on Nov 16, he's going to "poke some holes" in my eye to lessen the pressure.. He assures me it won't hurt, but just the thought is creeping me out :scared:..

If that works, he may try to remove the cataract.. I may not see any better afterwards, but it's worth a try, eh??

That's why I did when I had to had to have my tear ducts cauterized with a laser several times. The only unpleasant part is the anesthetic and it only takes a few seconds. Nothing to worry about! The fear is always worse than the reality.

I have cataracts and this is the first year he could not get my eyes to 20-20 so soon I must do all this. They have been growing. or what ever you call, it for 5 years.

9. Hang in there!

My aunt just had cataracts removed from both eyes and she is fine! She told me she can see well now, for the first time in a long while! She is 70 but you'd never know it! She said she was glad she finally had her eyes fixed and that she had been afraid to have it done! She is driving again after 3 years of depending on her kids to get around!

12. Too Bad You Can't Have My Left Eye

My eye is perfectly healthy, but i can't see out of it due to the MS. I've got a small plaque right in the area of where they believe the optic nerves land. So, i've got a good left eye, but can't see a thing out of it, and your eye is the problem but your brain is OK.

Too bad we can't arrange a swap, huh? At least it would be good for one of us.

BTW: The loss of site looks JUST LIKE macular degen. I have peripheral vision, but nothing, not even light, down the center. Looks exactly like the pictures of mac degen they have in the opthamologist's office. So, i certainly can empathize.

14. I had cataracts removed a few years ago...

there was no pain, and the alleviation of pressure of the occular fluid, in your case, is a good idea. Generally this is done outpatient, and, although creepy, is really a relatively easy procedure.

Bad thing, in my case, my right eye cataract has returned, and at this point, the only treatment is a laser blast to "dissolve" the new cataract. This is a "one time shot", so I'm holding off as long as I can.

Don't worry SoCal, this is one of the easier things you go through!

15. I've gotten shots in my eye TWICE.

due to problems with iritis.
The real bummer is that you can't look away from the needle, since the dr. is sticking it into your eyeball.
