1. Like any secrect club, probably more misconceptions about it
than there really are. Not my cup of tea, though.

2. I know quite a few people (even relatives) in it... I tell them
that its a secret organization where they get strippers once a month. I'd love to dress up as a man and go to one.

Also, what would happen to someone if they SAID something about what goes on there? None of the people I know will say a WORD about it.

3. I think the original intent was cool, but ...
... like everything else the BFEE has gotten it's hands on, it's gotten convoluted.

I mean, Voltaire ? Ben Franklin ? Thomas Jefferson ? Some seriously "small d democratic" minded folks & brilliant thinkers have been very high up in the Masons over the centuries.

It's just the knowledge that Poppy is also a high ranking Mason that shivers my timbers.

4. Try to find this book.

It's pretty interesting and well-researched. The Masons are indeed an interesting group, often shrouded in mystery and misconception.

I've read The History of Freemasonry written in 1898 by Albert Gallitin Mackey.

6. I've heard of that one also.
It is a tough read? I looked at it once in a bookstore and put it down. It looked imposing.

7. No not bad, it has a lot of stuff about Albert Pike.
He is the "Father" of modern American Freemasonry and the only Confederate general who has a statue in Washington D.C. Oooooooooo...;-)

9. Based on some posts I saw yesterday, it's misunderstood.
And certainly not anything to worry about or be afraid of.

You can find out about it in one of William Poundstone's great book, either Big Secrets or Bigger Secrets, I forget which.

Read both books anyway. His description of what Scientology is all about is particularly hilarious.

it just gives men an excuse to get out of the house and away from their wives every so often!
