Am I a Liberal Elitist?
I drive a Prius, listen to NPR, live in California, spend over $50 on a bottle of wine on average, eat international when I go out, and prefer Jazz to Country, and subscribe to Mother Jones, The New Yorker, The Economist, and the Smithsonian.

Perhaps the past 3 years of it? With commercials?

7. Somehow that thread got out of hand :)
Not sure how it took that direction - my original post was just me being goofy - but apparently some people took it seriously.

Lucky you. I always think it's stupid when republicans to call liberals elitest. They are the CEO's and have all the money, except for a few hollywood actors becasue they are the core of the democratic party.:sarcasm:

17. I don't believe that it's
what you enjoy that marks one as an elitist. You can eat only imported cheeses, listen to opera and symphonies, and drink fine wines. What marks one as an elitist is somehow thinking that makes you a better person than a liberal who sucks down velveeta, loves NASCAR, and drinks cheap brewskis in a can.

19. I was going to make a smart ass
remark about spending $50 on average for wine when I noticed all the other posts in repsonse to that.

Somehow that seems like it might be saying something about DU members. ;)

BTW: The most I ever spent on wine was $35 and that was because I have a gift certificate for a Wine Shop. My average is probably close to $10.

22. I don't knock anyone for liking cheaper wines
In fact here's a tip: Don't ever drink the $50 Pinots! Once you try them, the other stuff will never taste as good as it did!

When you hit the $50 range, its like a water line, where the flavors really come out. Kind of hard to describe.

"there goes another $10 bill, there goes a $5..."

I'll take your advice and stick to the cheap stuff!

If you truly enjoy those things and don't think of yourself as a more valuable person than anyone else, then no.

27. i don't know, but...
back in the 2000 campaign i saw a coal miner in wv telling the tv interviewer "gore ain't gonna take my guns". poor guy working his ass off in a dangerous job and that's his voting issue. that pisses me off, he was being fooled by the puke hatred. i worked in the mines for 20+ years in pa. so i don't feel out of line bringing this up.:banghead:

28. Other than the Prius and Mother Jones, that pretty much ...
describes my Republican in-laws, go figure. I'd love to see FIL's face when I told him he was one car and one magazine subscription away from being a liberal elitist. :-)

Actually, I think MIL has some strong left leanings. She's an artist and was recently reading the Barack Obama book, Dreams of my Father because she found his convention address so moving. I'll bet she votes democrat more often than she lets on.
