home improvements! before & after: (pic heavy!)
the home improvement projects are nearly complete!

here's what we did:

-foyer, hall, half bath, coat closet: black granite tiles with cork underlayment
-living room, dining room: maple hardwood flooring with cork underlayment
-family room: plush carpeting upgrade
-kitchen: ceramic tile with cork underlayment AND radiant heating(!)
-stairs and 2nd floor hall: maple hardwood

plus we installed two ceiling fans/light fixtures in the bedrooms, upgraded nearly all the ceiling lighting, painted nearly every room, and i'm probably forgetting a few things.

plus four more unmatched "after" pics:

We've been doing some home improvements this summer, but nothing like you guys. Our biggest thing is a new roof.

with some neutral window treatments. Nice work!

11. It looks very nice
Did you do the work yourselves? We did several rooms in our house, and it was very challenging, to say the least.

12. my brother-in-law did most of the work
mrs. unblock and i basically designed it & picked out the materials and her brother did the real work. we helped out here and there but he certainly did the lion's share.

he did do a really good job. plus, he's cheaper than home depot and the money stays in the family. not to mention that he fixes his mistakes, unlike home depot....

for the same reasons. Your brother-in-law did a fantastic job, from the looks of things, and I congratualte you and the Mrs. on your good taste.

16. thanks! my brother-in-law doubles as an artist
so he's got a real good eye for detail and can't just leave the mistakes, out of pride. so it took longer than it needed to, but the results speak for themselves!
