A question about port-a-pot ettiquette

Do you hold the door open for the person after you when you're done? And if someone does so for you, do you say "Thank You" and "You're Welcome"?

4. Always... and I cannot stress this enough

do not hover and pee everywhere. A porta-potty is bad enough without the obligatory cleaning of the seat. As well, PUT THE LID DOWN! How hard is that? If there is a disinfectant use it. Also, the lye if available.

7. Sorry! Showing my age

when we were kids and had to use the outhouse (when we were at the cabin or camping, not at home... I'm not THAT old), there was always a small can of lye next to the hole. When you finished, you sprinkled a bit of the lye dust into the hole. It dissolved the waste and destroyed any odours and bacteria. I'm sure now that it's not used, but it was drilled into us as kids to do this. And, quite frankly, it did cut down the uckiness of the outhouse.

The port-a-pottys I use are generally at construction sites where I'm one of the few women around. Man, I've seen some foul port-a-pottys, and they are usually my last resort.

Working on a job now where the site superintendent is a total stickler for p-o-p cleanliness. It's *such* a rare pleasure!

Also, did you know that the unspoken rule is that any p-o-p anywhere is fair game? On constructions sites, there are always strangers coming by to use the p-o-ps. They come through closed gates like they own the place just to get the the p-o-p. They'll go up somebody's driveway, the whole thing, totally trespassing to use the p-o-p. It's just one of those things.
