Did anyone watch 30 Days last night?
I didn't see any threads on it so I wasn't sure.

For those that don't know it's a new show by the guy who did Supersize Me. It's basically a "walk in another man's shoes" show but much more documentary style than reality tv. In the first episode last night it showed he and his girlfriend attempting to live for 30 days on minimum wage jobs. They crashed on a couch until they could get money for an apartment that charged daily or weekly rent(all they could afford) and even then it was bug infested. They showed how when they got hurt on the job how they couldn't afford to go to the doctor and when they go to the free clinic just how long they have to wait only to be told they couldn't help them because they were short on doctors. Then he had to take a second job and was working for 18 hours a day just for them to be able to eat and to pay off the doctor bills.

I thought it was really good. I was worried Morgan Spurlock and his girlfriend were going to try and play up like somehow them doing this for 30 days made them out to be martyrs. But they were sure to frame everything that happened in terms of the big picture and how people deal with this every day for many more than 30 days and what the impact is on their lives. I thought it was really well done and particularly showed the health care angle and how the costs can build up so ridiculously fast for minor things and how hard it is to get good care being poor.

Unfortunately I think it's one of those things where the people who really need to watch and see this to maybe get a snapshot of these issues are the very ones who won't watch it.

1. I missed it
I really wanted to watch, but it was mostly over by the time I remember it.

I'll set my tivo for next week's show.

2. no I missed it - when will it be on again?
I had seen an ad in passing, but was interrupted by my kids and I couldn't remember the name of the show, the channel or the time I was waiting to catch the ad again. I wanted to watch it because the concept looked interesting. If you know the details on it that would be great -thanks.

3. Well, it was on the F/X channel....10PM Wednesdays...
I don't know if it will be repeated. Future episodes are going to be on different subject matter. A homophobe living with a gay couple for 30 days. A conservative fundamentalist christian living with a muslim family. A woman binge drinking and still trying to function as a provider and mother for her family in order to show her younger daughter the effects of drinking on real life behavior.

even if the topics are different I think the concept sounds great. Maybe they will rerun the one from last night too. The future shows you mentioned sound great too.

5. I saw it and it was very good.
But, they found an apartment for $325.00 a month and found a place for free furniture. In my area it would be impossible to find these things. You can not find a one bedroom for less than $800. here, and there are no places for free furniture. I would love to see them try to do the same thing here in Massachusetts.

6. I'm hoping they do a repeat of it...
10pm is past my bedtime

But it's FX so they tend to repeat shows a few times over. If not I'll have to conquer my fear of the VCR

11. It was an excellent show.
The show really made you think about the standard of living you take for granted, when so many other people quietly live on the brink.
