look, if it's ok to make light of "Real" men, and it's also ok to make light of "real" women, then maybe, just MAYBE, some hermaphrodites may be able to find some humor in their situation as well, unless being a hermaphrodite precludes having a sense of humor :shrug:

My concern is that I know at least a few DUers who are hermaphrodites, and frankly I felt this thread would hurt their feelings. If you want to call that uber-pc, that's your business.

I just think it's interesting that we liberals like to think we're superior to conservatives in terms of how we treat those who are different than ourselves...

When it comes to this subject, I think I can speak, as I have a disproportionate amount of hermaphrodites friends, but I think they have a sense of humor just like I do, and I haven't seen anything here that would insult. I'm not bashing the comment prior, just saying anyone who knows this place knows there's a lot of heart here. Everybody needs to be able to laugh at their own human condition no matter what. I just went to google the percentage in our population and could not find anything, but I've heard .05% of all humans cannot be medically classified as male or female. Now that is a bunch of folks. What are the odds that they would have a sense of humor? I'd say pretty great, as most all people who are marginalized seem to be the ones that are the least sensitive about their condition. No scientific facts here, it's just been my experience. I appreciate the poster for caring. I just don't think it's necessary.

castrated and made to live life as a woman. The medical community has some new thinking they need to do on that mentality. Tsk, tsk. A hermaphrodite should be left as is and let them decide later if they want to pick a sex or remain a hermaphrodite. Imagine if they later went out with a bisexual person.
