4. It is intresting that
"God" and "Sexuality" appear mutually exclusive at this point.

22. Only if "porn" represents all sexuality
I agree with statement #3 - God and sexuality are not incompatible, but I don't go to church and I don't watch porn, so I had to pick option #4.

Please remember, many people enjoy sex without porn. Not that if you need it I give a shit. I just have trouble with equating porn to the entire gamut of sexual experience. You don't need the one to enjoy the other, is all I'm saying.

29. Porn and sexuality are really two different things.
I was trying to frame a question that pitted "religion" with something it condemns the most.

The "both" and "neither" answers were intended to include folks like yourself who do not watch porn, and do not go to church. Evidently, one does not need church to choose not to watch porn.

The religious argument is that without their influence, everyone would be raping and murdering in the streets. While not scientific by any means, the category you chose seems to indicate that "moral" (by their definition) people exist outside of church.

I do think it is interesting that so few people chose "Both" It is as though they are mutually exclusive.

5. I'd rather have sex or get stoned, or both
porno is just a proxy for sex
and church is just a proxy for getting stoned.

10. Interesting observation.
Church people seem to be "addicted" to a particular emotional experience. Many fundamentalist services appear to be structured to create light-headedness, and profound emoting.

This might not be unlike getting stoned where the addict might be striving for a particular type of emotional experience.

I always thought religion was like Prozac, but your observation adds another dimension.

13. addict?
I must object to that frame. Not all people who smoke grass are addicts,
and not all persons who attend church seek an emotional experience.

I'd say actually, in both cases, there is a significant population
that use church and weed as a way of transcending experience altogether
to feel a transcendental sense of peace and fulfillment without
any externality whatsoever.

And many programs for people who "are" addicted to addictive drugs,
tend to use religion as the proxy. Its funny that the puritain culture
has them as either/or, when in more ancient civilizations, drugs were
used selectively by religion to open the doors of perception.

15. I did not mean any offense.
I was looking for a word, and I picked the wrong one I guess. I was thinking more of religious addiction, and then I made the correlation to the drugs.

I think being in nature is being with God - especially when you're with family and friends. Of course, we live in Germany where most people have Sundays off to do so. Ah, those Godless Socialist nations.

12. What a question!
I would have to choose church, tho I am far more into the pagan way of looking at things. I find that anywhere where people gather to worship in a positive manner, a beautiful energy is released, there for everyone present to absorb.

14. Depends On How You Define Church!
I play golf every weekend. We play early. (I play with a married couple that i've known for several years.)

One Sunday morning, the bells at the Catholic Church down the road started ringing about 9am or so, and my playing partner said to her husband and me, "Oh, it's time for church, we've got to go!"

My reply: "I'm already at church."

BTW: They don't go to church either, so it was a funny thing to say for all of us.

God is going to get you for preferring dirty movies to a morning in His house! If enough of you keep answering that way, you just know it'll lead to another terror attack, especially if it's gay porn!

I guess you could make a case that you are appreciating the beauty and physical capabilities of God's creations.

Fishing is the art of patient endurance. It is a good way to let the evil republicans fade from consciousness. In this way, it is more productive than church which is nothing more than a PAC with sunday lessons in Constitutional Law.

42. Depends on the church concerned.
If you find the right place, then there is great beauty especially stunning music all around.

Compared with which - a few guys (and/or gals as per choice) fumbling around in the most odd manner, with acting skills worse than my teddy-bear (who is not RADA trained), and a sound-track - well let's not even go there.

I have been known to start doing a crossword during porn when I just got bored, whilst I have been tempted to during some church services I have yet to get the newspaper out.

On the other hand not all churches are quite like that described above.
