Lapsang Souchong Tea!
I finally found some!

Anybody else ever partake of it?

1. Yes, it's smokey tasting.
Has that old world taste. Enjoy with some scones.

2. Yup
I like the super-fermented stuff.

There's a green tea with something of the same flavor, one of the gunpowders-- which is way counter-intuitive, since it's the fermentation process that blackens the leaves. But once again, we see that all generalizations are suspect. (Including this one.)

My ex-husband used to drink it on occasion. No offense, but I wasn't a fan. One might say is was not my "cup of tea". Ba dum bum! :D

5. Cooked with it :-D
Although I like teas my husband is very into them. He had me taste Lapsang Souchong and although I didn't care for the taste as a tea I tried marinating a steak it it along with some other seasoning.. turned out pretty tasty too. :) Thanks for reminding.. I need to get more and try that again. :)

So... do you drink any other teas? :)

Upton Tea carries a couple varieties of Lapsang as well as a huge selection of other teas nd tea items. We buy all our higher end teas from them now after an online friend recommended them and have been very pleased. We now buy mostly green teas and my favorite so far is Jasmine Pearl... although I also enjoy Earl Grey Green and a few others.

6. Yum!
I used to drink it in the seventies, after reading about it in Michener's "Centennial".

8. It's nasty nasty nasty and yucky.
It tastes like somebody has used to contents of an ash-tray for making tea.

I drink all sorts of green and black teas - but run a mile as soon as Lapsang Souchong 'tea' is mentioned. :scared:

9. Yes
One of my co-workers brought some to work last year. I thought it was interesting, but not the usual sweet stuff that I like. So I went back to, you know, mint and apricot and all that.

10. Love it
I'm surprised you had a difficult time finding it - it's not that rare. Real Green Gunpowder might be a bit more difficult to come across. But, yeah, I've been drinking it for years. I had to lay off for a while because it's so loaded with caffeine. I've had friends complain a LOT when I was drinking it; some say it smells like shoe polish. It's grown in volcanic soil and it's one of the fermented black teas.
