I'm watching the remake of "Dawn of the Dead"
Ask me anything.

Incidentally, I'm a paranoid who has tried to figure out what he would do if the dead do rise - a tricky feat in the controlled UK.

1. Killing zombies never gets old.
Romero's "World of the dead" is coming out this summer.

I always wanted to play a zombie in one of these movies.

22. Cool
There's an article in this week's Entertainment Weekly that shows a guy going through the process of being made up. Of course, I would want to get my head blown off in the movie.

6. As remakes go, it's not so bad.
At least the blood is a realistic colour!

8. fuck i hated it
the original was so much better... more campy...

and it was more layered... the whole theme of consumerism was obliterated from the remake

11. that was may main issue
romero tapped into a lot of themes... where the remake was simply a roller coaster ride...

the themes of 'dawn of the dead' coincided with & expanded the themes of 'night of the living dead'

Best last scene in a horror film. The girl got what she wanted, and the guy gets to keep his friend.

12. A good friend of mine is trying to make a low budget zombie film
he is obsessed with it. It is going to be a cheesy half comedy/half horror film. It is going to be called "Otto Vs. The Dead", about a stoned car mechanic who takes on the reanimated corpse of a maniacal serial killer. Every time I see him, he is trying some new special effect---a blood shooter, a flame discharger and all kinds of other stuff---etc, etc.

and the film Contact. It will probably start shooting next year, if we finalise a S/Play.

15. Hahaha
Zuni, I think you'd like me. Mike, my co-conspirator, and I spend all our free time cooking up better stuff to stick in the film.

Which is intended to be a satire on conformity, incidentally. Like the orginal Invasion Of The Body Snatchers.

Remember, the original Night of the Living Dead was produced with only a few hundred dollars and it is THE Zombie flick of all time.

Keep up the good work and don't let doubters get you down. Some of the best horror films are cheaply made

I also dig Bela Lugosi in "White Zombie" but that is a different kind of Zombie film all together

28. Look for Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright cameos in "Land of the Dead"
Wright (who directed Shaun of the Dead) and Pegg have cameo roles as zombies--Pegg said he was actually offered a speaking role, but since he didn't get to be a zombie in SotD he told 'em he'd rather do that instead.

(Loved Shaun of the Dead, btw. :) )

32. I've heard that too.
The advertising makes heavy play on "we're coming to get you, Barbara" - and Pegg can do sinister. Edgar Wright plays a zombie who trips and falls in SotD - watch for him doing something similar in LotD.

20. Have you seen 28 Days Later?
...OK, so technically they aren't zombies because they're not really dead, but for all intents and purposes, it's the same difference. Anyway, a lot of people didn't like that movie, but I thought it was an interesting take on the whole theme.

Do you think they'll do a remake of Day of the Dead? I've just started getting into zombie movies over the last few months, as a result of hanging out with all my brother's friends. I just saw Sean of the Dead a week ago, and LOVED it!

I love Zombie films.

There's a 28DL reference at the end of SotD! And Edgar Wright voices it!

27. LOL @ the controlled U.K.
They'd get arrested if they went inside Charles Clarke's new no-protest zone. Then again when an iris scan for their I.D. card failed.

No doubt that Mail would lump them with Romanies and start a campaign against them; and the Tories would announce that they're not permitted to use N.H.S. facilities until their claims to new life have been processed.

Then you'll know what to do in the UK. It is a better move than "Dawn" anyway.

The leaves the question what to do in the parts of Europe where no cricket bats are available.
