Wow. "The Office" is a truly brilliant TV show.

cause the US version is mediocre at best.

And ,yes, the BBC version is one of the funniest things I've ever seen.

2. Didn't know there was a U.S. version.

Beyond being one of the funniest things I've ever seen, the last episode almost had me crying.

On edit: Maybe I'm just tired and loopy, but it strikes me that the show is a tragedy of such profound proportions (i.e. meaningless modern life) that 98% is comic relief to make it palatable.

3. Rent or buy "The Office Special" on DVD

Then let us know what you think of the entire arc of the characters in this absolutely brilliant television show. The U.S. version had its moments but would not have half the support had it not been for the original.

4. Does the Office Special contain 2 longer episodes?

I got the impression from imdb that there were the 2 series with 6 episodes each and then a couple of longer episodes.

I didn't see an Office Special at the crappy video store where I rented series 1 and 2, but I haven't checked the good video place yet.

6. The box set contains 4 discs...

2 discs for season 1 & 2; a disc of assorted extras and a disc of "The Office" special. The special wraps up all of the loose ends of the series.

9. I know what you mean

While Season 1 was much funnier (ha-ha) than Season 2, Season 2 moved me in a completely different way. I watched the entire season in one night and was sent on a rollercoaster of emotions with regard to David Brent.

Amusement, pity, anger, empathy, hatred, sadness -- that season was incredibly well done.

Really, toward the end of the US Office, Steve Carrell proved that he could be just as evil and awkward as Ricky Gervais.

5. I just finished watching the DVD last night!

My parental units bought me the dvd (BBC version) -- they saw it and thought it was fantastic.
