Runaway bride: Decision 'life or death'
In her first interview since her famous cross-country flight in April, runaway bride Jennifer Wilbanks has called her decision to run away "the best mistake I ever made."

Wilbanks said that even though the search for her inconvenienced a lot of people and worried friends and family, it forced her to seek help, which she admitted she badly needed.

The entire interview will be aired by NBC next Tuesday at 8 p.m., with excerpts to be shown on the "Today" show Tuesday and Wednesday.

NBC released a partial transcript of the interview with Katie Couric today:

-snip-

Wilbanks: That night, in that moment, it really became a life or death decision for me.... So I got on my bus. Were there other alternatives? Sure there were. But that's all I knew at that moment, Katie. And then I was very ashamed. And felt so guilty for the people that I have hurt. And how, you know, how this has affected many people's lives. But at the same time, it's the best mistake I ever made.... It allowed me to realize that I desperately needed help. And it humbled me enough to ask for that help. And that was what I did. And that's what I'm getting now.

4. You bet your ass it was the "best mistake" she ever made.
Book & TV deals will get her a minimum of $500k.

7. Hey! I have a young friend who is bi-polar.
Ya think if I can get her to do something to get her face on the National News and entertainment media 24/7 for about a month, that she can get a movie and book deal to pay for her mental health treatment?

8. Maybe she should enlist and spend a few months in Iraq
before she goes on national TV and starts whining about life and death.

9. The MSM needs to do a story about a guy who's constipated
I mean really, REALLY constipated, like he hasn't been able to go to the bathroom for a week, despite the fact that he's used any number of laxatives and enemas.

Because that's exactly how relevant and interesting this bride story is.

11. It means that she was contemplating suicide
Since she probably saw many of her problems as external, like her impending wedding which she didn't want, running away would seem like a good alternative. In many cases, it is. Many people leave their families, SOs, jobs, homes, and other things which cause them a great deal of stress and successfully start new lives. Unfortunately for her, her family really went looking for her and it became a national news event.
