1. it's pretty neat
A museum here had monks doing that as an exhibit for a few months.. lots of people would go everyday.. the butter sculptures they make are also incredible.

3. They did one at the Mall of America on 9/11/02
I just missed it when they destroyed it to release the prayers -- but I did get a little bag of sand to take home.

There is a beautiful preserved mandala on display at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts. One of my favorite things in that museum.
