Best modern-era singer who doesn't/didn't write his or her own songs?
A strong case could be made for either Elvis or Frank Sinatra, who took other peoples' songs and made them their own.

What do you think?

2. I agree. But I would put Frank first. I am also a big Dino fan.
But Frank did cross boundaries and made stuff his own or at least did good interpretations -- the Beatles come to mind.
