Talk about a stupid email scam

I got this email today. Funny thing is the last name in my emaill address is kidz. Now tell me how many people have that name.
These scam artists are shameless and stupid.

PARTNERSHIP BUSINESS

My name is Mr. Paul Peters a Banker and accountant with BIAOBANK
Abidjan
Cote d'Ivoire. I am the personal accounts manager to Engr. Hugh Novak,
a
National of your country, who used to work with an
oil servicing company here in Cote d'Ivoire.

My client, his wife, and their three children were involved in the ill
fated Kenya Airways crash in the coasts of Abidjan in January 2000 in
which all passengers on board died. Since then I have made several
inquiries to your embassy to locate any of my clients extended
relatives
but has been unsuccessful. After several unsuccessful attempts, I
decided
to trace his last name over the internet, to see if I could locate any
member of his family hence I contacted you.

Of particular interest is this huge deposit with our bank here in,
where
the deceased has an account valued at about ($16 million US
dollars).They
have issued me a notice to provide the next of kin or the bank will
declare the account unserviceable and thereby send the funds to the
bank
treasury.

Since I have been unsuccessful in locating the relatives for over last
2
years now, I will seek your consent to present you as the next of kin
of
the deceased since you have the same last names, so that the proceeds
of
this account valued at ($16million US dollars) can be paid to you and
then
you and I can share the money.

All I require is your honest cooperation to enable us see this deal
through. I guarantee that this will be executed under all legitimate
arrangement that will protect you from any breach of the law. In your
reply mail, I want you to give me your full name, address, telephone
and
fax number.

If you can handle this with me, You can contact me immediately through
my
secured E-mail address (paulpeters17yahoo.com) as soon as you receive
this
mail.

1. I heard enough people respond to this type of thing to make it worth

while for them. I also saw someone I think on this board let the scammer on for a couple of months.

will see how these people are fighting back by leading these scammers on and wasting their time. I have done a little of it myself. My expertise is warning potential victims.

7. I wrote him back

told him I am not stupid and don't email me again or I will report him (and I might do that anyway). I also told him to get a job and make money legally.

11. In future, just hit delete. If you write back, you're just showing them

that it's a valid email address, and you'll get 100X the spam. There used to be an email address in the Treasury Dept. (Secret Service, I think) you could send the 419 emails to, but as near as I can tell, they've bailed.

The emails may look stupid, but these people make a fortune. There is in fact a sucker born every minute. Be glad it isn't you.

10. I got scammed and then another guy tried the same thing. I agreed to

ship guy #2 some computers to Nigeria. He gave me credit card numbers to pay for the computer. No one in interested in stolen credit card numbers by the way. Anyhow, I emailed him that I sent the computers and would email him the tracking number later. He emailed like crazy and I didn't answer. He even called my home a couple of times! He was really in a panic. Took him a month to figure out they weren't coming.

5. 90 year old Dad got scammed for $4,500 this week

by a gentlemen he met at a party. Showed up at his door two days ago with a sob story.

People aren't dumb.. but many elderly fall for these things wanting to help.

9. My dad felt sorry for a guy so her hired him and his friends to clean

up our yard. We have 15 acres. Took several weeks. When I got laid off, everyone got fired. So the guy stole my dad's car keys and robbed us at night. Had a lot of fun with my credit cards.

Everyone had warned my dad the guy could not be trusted.

It's horrible the way they prey on people and too bad so little can be done to them.

This guy is supposedly asking you to enter into a deal to essentially take money that doesn't belong to either one of you and he asks for "honest" cooperation?

It always amazes me that anyone falls for these things but plenty of people must since they're still out there in vast quantities.

Like how many times can you get free money without working for it.

will fall for these scam mails. But they do and there are some who keep sending more and more money hoping to get the big payoff.
