I feel like complaining
Edited on Sat Jun-18-05 12:45 AM by Droopy
I hate working with people who do not have their shit together. I went in to work today and asked them where I should deliver the load that I was assigned to. They've been having me deliver it either directly to the plant or to a warehouse. They told me it was supposed to go to the plant. I get to the plant and dock the trailer. Go inside and turn in my paperwork and have a seat. About 15 minutes later a dock worker comes over and tells me that they are not supposed to be getting this load and that I should take it back to the yard. He said that his supervisor had called our office and told them that they did not have room to store the load. Somebody did not tell the second shift supervisor where I work that the load wasn't supposed to go to the plant. That would be one of two day shift supervisors and I'm pretty sure who it was. There's this guy that is always screwing things up even though he's been working there for something like 8 years. He's cost me a lot of time in the past and had recently done the same thing to me that happened today. I called the second shift supervisor and he made a phone call and then told me that I was supposed to take the load to the warehouse. By the time I got to the warehouse it had made my day a half an hour longer than it should have been. It wasn't a total loss, though. The second shift supervisor said he would pay me for the extra, unnecessary stop that I had to make.

I guess it could be worse. I know a lot of you are struggling to find employment right now and would give anything to have the problem that I had today because that would mean that a pay check is coming in. That still won't stop me from complaining from time to time though. Sometimes I just need to bitch.

1. I can't blame you
Just because you do have a job doesn't mean you want to stay at it after you're supposed to be done for the day. Your time is still yours.

3. Yep
And usually I wouldn't have even got paid for my time seeing as how I only get paid by the load no matter how long it takes me. But they were good enough to give me a little extra today.

9. But he is staying at it after he is done for the day.
And bringing it here, to this board.

Bless you, Droopy. We are all on your side.

13. Of course he is. He's a Democrat.
A Republican would have knocked off at noon, left someone else to finish up for him, and gone to the country club for 18 holes which he would bill to the company.

That sounds like an Onion article. I will keep it in mind, though. You can never be too safe.

I really don't complain too much, but tonight that guy just made me go over the edge a little.

self-employed!

Sorry you had a bad day. How about another episode of "Tales From the Road"?

12. I don't have a story for you all tonight
But I've been thinking about a time when I witnessed a bad wreck. That might be the next story from the road.

16. Absolutely, sometimes you just need to bitch!
And WE are here for you, to give you a safe place to do it...And some backup, and some feedback as well...

I was thinking last night, about your story that you told us yesterday. You'd mentioned that you could never be sure when these would crop up from your memory. But it does seem to me that you're telling us these more often these days. And I think I know why. As you tell them to us, we inspire you, and this inspiration increases your creativity. Then you remember more stories, and you tell them...and the cycle goes forward.

And wow, this cycle is so damn good!

Thank you, Droopy...We will be able to say: We knew you when...

17. Hi Peggy
Your theory about my memories coming back to me due to the encouragement that I get here might be right. As I told somebody up the thread I've got another story brewing for you. I was thinking tonight about a bad wreck that I witnessed. It will probably be my next story.

18. That's great, Droopy!
I'm looking forward to it bunches!

The only thing I'm worried about is that next Thursday my husband and I will be going on vacation until mid-July. I'll undoubtedly miss some of your stories. Maybe you could bookmark them, so when I get home and back on DU, you could send me the links?

Could/would you do that for me? I'd sure appreciate it...

22. I hear you Droopy
That's part of the reason I work the graveyard shift--it minimizes the amount of time I have to work with co-workers. Some of them are ok but others are so incompetent and lazy I want to scream.

Vent all you need, it's cathartic.

23. OMG DROOPY DON'T GET ME STARTED
they think they are assigning an incompetent SOB to me for training - this guy shows no initiative and I consider him a certified dipshit. I sent an email to my boss informing him I will take the issue to his manager (my boss and I usually get along well and I won't do stuff behind his back). There are many, many unemployed in this area and I am not about to put up with ths shit - NOT AT ALL.
