I've always been partial to macaws. Lessers and citrons remind me of porcelain figures. They're visually stunning little guys...and smaller than the average 'too, which makes them cuter than bugs' ears.

First of all, I'll be checking the papers...people are often moving and selling their birds. In previous years I've seen Meyers offered.

There are also couple of breeders that I'll be talking to in the fall, if I don't find a Meyers in the paper this summer.

Although I'd love a baby, I'm fine with a youngish or an adult bird. I'm in the midst of moving myself, and want to get settled before I look for one.

They are really stunning. Their backs are bright turquoise. Pictures just don't do their colouring justice. :-)

23. I brought Frodo home when she was 13 weeks old.

I hand fed Frodie warm Macaw formula until she learned to drink water and eat solid foods. She travels with me whenever possible because she has been my constant companion for over 4 years and I miss her too much to leave her for very long.

Pookie was a rescue of sorts - her owner became allergic to her. Cockatoos shed more dander than most parrots so she was returned to the store. Pookie had free range of the store by day and a secure cage at night but that isn't enough for a happy bird. She was my first parrot 7 years ago.

26. the Black Headed Caique intrigues me

They are so active! I fell in love with a Caique soon after bring Frodo home so that was one love affair that ended rather quickly. My heart belongs to my Blue & Gold.

24. Yeah, they're probably the most steady-tempered of the Poicephalus.

I've raised a lot of baby parrots, mostly African greys and Senegals. I raised a clutch of Meyer's parrots once and they were very cool. :)

17. they enrich my life beyond measure

When Frodo feels like I've spent too much time away from her :think: she walks off of her cage and I hear her nails going tic-tack on the wooden floor as she follows my sounds until she finds me. She is better about letting me know there's visitor at my door than my old golden retriever. Frodo & Keria both start saying "hello" when the phone rings. Keria hate to hear the tea kettle whistling too long so he will shout "hey".

36. I have a Quaker parrot named Henrietta

that also answers the phone.

When it rings she says: "hello, yeah, um hum, OK, yeah, good bye".
She has been doing it for a couple of years and makes me laugh
every time.

She also demands to go outside on the porch, mimics all the Quickbooks
sounds and announces when it is time to go to bed. Too much.
