"Cabaret" Something about this last week has evoked memories of this
movie...hard-working people & people of privilege just coasting along; touches on abortion & homosexuality; how everybody saw it coming but no one knew how bad it would be...then that final chilling song sung by a bright youth "The Future Belongs To Me".

7. That part of the movie does give me the creeps.
All those blond boys singing that beautiful song. And the way it swells until it overwhelms everything else! It's an excellent film, and as you said, scarily appropriate for today.

4. There is something about these times
that DOES remind one of the movie. For me, it is a certain apprehension that comes from realizing that the quality of these times in this place may well echo those of pre-Hitler Berlin. Haven't seen the movie in years but, yeah ... I hear ya.

Haven't been here long? Welcome to DU. You a NASA woman?

5. OMG ! was gonna ask you what that meant until I remembered my user
name...little slow tonite, so aren't you all glad I'm not an astronaut?! It was a nickname from high school in the 70's; make of it what you will.

8. That's funny. I would like to work for NASA, but I have been sucked into
the concept of gravity.

10. Your reference to Cabaret reminded me of my
former sister-in-law, who was an actress. She was doing "Cabaret" on the road, and I asked her is that was the play set during the Great Depression. She answered, no, it was set just before WWII! And she's a college graduate!
