Do you believe that our soul is eternal and will move on,
Edited on Sun Jun-19-05 09:37 PM by HypnoToad
after our corporeal form dies?

If so, please convince me of that.

(I want to believe)

8. I believe in precognition...
and amongst other things I saw myself looking up the name of a future employer and thinking "there's no way that a company has that daft of a name."

Well, 6 months later, I saw the very ad...

And that's one bizarre incident amongst many.

But I won't tell you what I've seen lately.

3. I'm not even gonna touch this.
I could convince you of it, but it would take me at least a half hour of typing, and I'm not in the mood right now.

5. Only if you believe in one thing...
the redeeming properties of Popeye's spicy fried chicken.

Without my belief in that chicken, i would have to say no.

But with the chicken, Yes - you will move on to spicy chicken paradise once you leave your corporeal form. And it will be tasty, too.

6. I believe
That our physical forms may be an 'encoding' of something greater...

There is a reason why we have thought... we just aren't smart enough to figure out why...

10. How about ghosts?
Assuming that ghosts are real, for the moment, I know that's no guarantee of a "yes" answer to your question. I think of it as a kind of foot in the metaphysical door; an indication that there is *something* going on after death, for *some* people. It may not be a good thing, though.

Anyway, I bring this up because my partner's sister is visiting from LA, and we had a discussion about her ghost last night. I've heard this before, but it all came back last night. She lives in an apartment where she experiences, almost continually, aural phenomena consisting of the sounds of her front door opening, steps moving down hallways and up stairs and moving over the ceiling of her bedroom. She has never seen anything, but she hears all this regularly, when no one else is home but her. Her kids and grandkids have experienced things there too; her grandaughter has seen a male figure on those stairs, and her own kids and grand neices and nephews have "felt" things, like knowing there's someone right behind you, again on the stairs.

I myself saw something in our place in San Francisco, and my partner saw this several times: a male figure seeming to walk through a closed door and walk down our hallway to the back of the house. And my partner had one very intense encounter with three ghosts when he was a boy, that's a bit too involved to relate here.

I absolutely trust in the truthfulness and reliability of what these people tell me, and I know what I've seen too. So there you have it. This is a big part of why I think there's some kind of post-death existence. Whether it means eternal souls moving on to paradise, I have zero idea. It would be nice, though, huh? But given the usual explanation for hauntings, it doesn't say much about the millions of people who die and are never heard from again. What happened to them, if anything?

11. Not only do I believe it, I know it for a fact.
But there is no way I can convince you.

At this juncture, you are apparently not meant to know (that is nothing to be ashamed of).

B-)

18. Hi Floogeldy....
Sometime I'd like very much to hear what you have to say on this subject. If you have time, that is...I very much WANT to believe that our souls go on. Part of me already thinks so; part of me is doubtful.

You know it for a fact. Interesting. I trust your judgment.

:hi:

12. It requires faith to believe in the unknowable.
You may be an agnostic, you want to believe but want proof.

Can I close my eyes? That is the question... :-)

13. I can't convince you of that.
There isn't any empirical data or anything.

I'm not sure what happens, I've never died. I tend to believe in reincarnation, though. Just a gut feeling.

15. I just believe
that we are more than skin and bones. There's something inside each one of us that makes us who we are. Can science isolate a person's soul? No.
It's not of the physical realm. If we had no soul we'd just be a bunch of droids walking around, robots made out of flesh. The idea that there's an inner being in each one of us makes me believe we're a part of a higher power.

20. We must all learn these things for ourselves
There is little anyone could say to convince you. You'll come to know all truths in the fullness of time. It's more fun this way.

23. I used to be doubtful myself until I had a Near Death Experience
in 1982. This was before any news of this had been in the media. BTW, I can tell when these people who go on TV and claim that they've had one are liars!!
