Moving is exhausting
All week I've been packing and even taking a few car loads (mind you, I have a small car, so it's a lot of trips) of stuff over to the new place. Mind you, this is after working a full day--where I'm also having an office move. Seems every where I am, I'm surrounded by boxes, crates, and packed stuff.

I'm taking tomorrow off to finish up the last of the organizing of stuff and getting rid of things we're not moving with us.

The rental truck and the strong young folks are coming on Saturday.

Then, I'll have to unpack it all.

It will be nice when things get back to normal.

4. Didn't you just move cross-country?
I can't begin to imagine that kind of a move. I'm staying in the same town and this is hard. Of course, I'm trying to organize two teenage boys, which is a pretty tough project too.

8. In the past five years...
I've moved from upstate NY to Southwest Florida, from there to a bit farther up the gulf coast, and from there to California. And since I'm renting right now while I search for a house to buy...this won't be the last move.

Definitely couldn't have done it with teenage boys in tow. :)

7. Yeah, I'm really happy about getting out of this neighborhood
It's literally right in the center of this small town. My driveway is at an intersection between two roads, so it's nearly impossible to back the car out because there's always a line of cars at the stop sign behind me. There are police sirens all the time, and you can't sit and watch the ball game with your windows open on a Sunday afternoon because the road noise makes it impossible to hear the TV.

Oh, and I hate the landlord. I'm officially done with him in 6 days.

9. Congrats!
It's always nice to get into a better place.

I'm on a main road, too. With sirens, screaming people, souped up cars that make lots of noise. The crime around here is bad, not as bad as some of the neighborhoods, but still bad. And they've been renovating the house next door to me (I'm in a townhouse) for the last two years. They've hammered holes into my walls, water leaks into my house everytime it rains hard, they block my car in almost everyday, they've extended that house over the property line on both sides and my landlord is really pissed. Anyway, yeah, I can't wait to get out of here.

10. Good luck
I've moved several times - it really is hellish.

It will be nice when things get back to normal.

In my experience, you should reach that state in early 2008 - until then, have fun. :P

11. I'm actually pretty good about sticking to it until it's done
though I have to admit I sometimes learn a couple of months post-move that something isn't quite in the right place. Sometimes you have to live in the space before you figure out the best way to use it.
