I'm listening to Ray Charles sing "Georgia on My Mind"
.... gotta love it.

"Other arms reach out to me
Other eyes smile tenderly
Still in peaceful dreams I see
The road leads back to you...."

12. No! No! No!
It is MY Tybee and I will duke it out over that, Miss Honeychurch!

I have a diptych of Tybee over my bathtub! I have pictures of the (ahem...phallic) Tybee lighthouse all over my house! I have a half-completed novel about Tybee ( titled The Island of Beautiful Men) and I spent too much time at Fort Screven ( well, where someone turned that part of the fort into a house - our living room was one of the old gunrooms) to let YOU have it! I am also one of the Honorary Witches of Tybee and I still wear the toe ring I received in the ceremony...

plus i have eaten Boiled peanuts. Ha! What've YOU got?

14. If only my scanner worked!
You would fall down at my feet!

But that IS a cool place to have your initiation into the mystery....

Did you climb the lighthouse first? It has magical, sexual powers y'know...

AND TYBEE BELONGETH TO MOI!!!!!!!!!!!!!

15. No, we just walked the beach
and one day I walked the whole water front from the side where Little Tybee is to the side of the lighthouse. Wonderful walk. I mostly was on the far end of Tybee. I really love that island. Alone the drive from Savannah through the marches is just .... sigh ..... and I have the airial pictuer as background on my PC. I can't fight with you over Tybee at the moment because you are way closer to it than I am. Last time I was there was February last year

16. Well, now that we've completely hijacked
MissMillie's thread, here's a  for missing The Island of Beautiful Men (as in more than one beautiful man - Johnny Bravo, anyone?)

I hope I can get there soon. Last time was last year on my birfday...antigone382 gave me that as a gift!

Hang in there, Oh fellow Griever over Tybee ;)

19. How cool
His nickname name wasn't Turbo, was it? I really need to find that boy...and I forgot to tell Ms Honeychurch that the stone breakers are called jetties....

And every time I hear the name "Ray Charles" these days I think about that Joan Osborne song,

"I dreamed I saw Ray Charles last night, and he could see just fine you know....."

Spiderweb!

And that's all :hi:

4. That song kicks ass......
Ray Charles is the best....

"This is my favorite president.", said Ray Charles while hugging Bill Clinton.

6. I was lucky enough to see Ray C. in concert while working as an usher.
Edited on Thu Jun-23-05 08:55 AM by peacebuzzard
It was to a very low-key audience in Myrtle Beach, SC. Everything was very polite, calm and truly appreciative. It was fantastically incredible. I love Ray. He closed w/ "Georgia on My Mind".

7. Hey I just have to tell you about miniAmandaruth, my 13 year old daughter.
After we saw Ray, she started to listen to his music in earnest, she loves Georgia, and that is what she has picked to play at her piano recital, coming up in August. And she is going to sing it as well. She has been working hard on it, she says it is a hard song to play on the piano, better for a man with bigger hands. She will be happy to know that people on this forum love the song as much as she does. :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)

8. Finally saw the movie "Ray". Just WOW!. AS far as Georgia, it makes me
think of two things:

"Designing Women" and the MIA episode of "Quantum Leap" where Al and his wife are "dancing".
