4. It reminded of when we could post with nothing in the subject line.
I think I'll resist this one, though. :)

5. If you open it, do it off-line.
The sender probably wants to see if you're a good address. They will get a confirmation message back if you open it up on-line. After they find you a "live" one they will spoof your addy and start using your name and address when they send out their next batch (millions) of junk mail. When I receive E-Mail from someone I don't know I always open it off-line if I open it at all. Fortunately I don't receive a lot of junk mail due to the filters I have set up. And I have never used MS Outlook for my mail client nor MSIE for my browser. You're just asking for trouble if you do. I use Mozilla and before that I used its cousin Netscape for years.

6. You should immediately open all attachments, and run them!
They can be trusted!

7. I got two of them yesterday
Edited on Thu Jun-23-05 01:17 PM by seemunkee
I looked at the headers and they weren't from anyone I know so just deleted them. Malformed virus or trojan is probably sending out the messages

8. you should be able to right-click the email, click "properties"
in the drop-down menu and go to the "details" tab and read the email, without "opening" it.

I believe this amounts to ... not opening the email, but when the email looks really suspicious, I don't do this, either.
