When Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes tie the knot, they'll almost certainly do it in a half-hour Scientology service befitting "the second of the eight dynamics of existence" as postulated by sci-fi writer and church founder L. Ron Hubbard.

"The protocol is like any traditional wedding - with the father of the bride and the traditional seating of the family," says Rev. John Carmichael, president of the Church of Scientology of New York.

After their vows, the couple may exchange rings embossed with Scientology's ARC triangle, which stands for Affinity Reality Communication, says Rev. James Newell, a Scientology minister from Clearwater, Fla.

The newly engaged Katie Holmes still has some explaining to do to her friends and family.

There were 16 days in April during which no one seems to know where she was.

Holmes made a public appearance on April 4 at the premiere of "Steel Magnolias" on Broadway.

She came with her publicist, Leslie Sloane Zelnick, and a couple of other friends. They were there to support Rebecca Gayheart, who was making her Broadway debut.

5. In People Magazine, there is a article about them...

There is a series of photographs of her taken recently. In every one of them, there is a Scientologist "handler" keeping her company. She claims that this woman is there because they've become good friends. I find the whole thing too creepy.
