:nuke:

Alto, I've heard good things about Bewitched (the movie), that's one success out of several attempts.

I remember liking it, however.

There was one Redd Foxx stand-up videotape that I remember watching a couple times, back in the day, though, that was just hysterical. Dirty as hell, too. I think it was literally called something like, "Redd Foxx: Video in a Plain Brown Wrapper".

You see these are great films and tv shows that are the fabric of our culture. You see I don't mind them redoing bad movies like Hitchhikers guide to the Galaxy because the original movie sucked dirty FReeper ass. Now people that never read the Hitchhikers book didn't really get the jokes but it was a lot better than the original.

I swear, for those old enough to remember, this show was like Family Guy minus the surrealism or pop culture irony. The characters even looked somewhat similar.

And then when Hollywouldn't completely runs out of ideas, they can do a Diff'rent Strokes ripoff, which would be kind of bizarre considering the real-life fates of the kids.

50. No, but there's thirty professional critics reporting...
and that's a large enough sample for me.

I really don't take into consideration the "big names" of movie critiqueing. I more often take into consideration the critic from my local independant newpaper than the "big names" like Roger Ebert, or... ah... Mr. Roeper. Or aaahhh, hmmm, ahhh, no he's dead. Ummmm? Gene Shalit? And uh, well you get the picture.

59. Oh, I doubt it.
I mean, I consider it a movie buff, but I'd never get to see and study as many films as a decent professional critic does. Never took any film classes in college, only a couple of English composition courses.

I trust their judgement a lot better than an average joe. I mean, if you went to films based on box office receipts you'd be in a real mess.

Film critics are like weathermen, they're always there when you need them, and they never get no respect.

62. I love films and I watch them all from the greatest to the worst
The thing that gets me with a lot of critics is that many times they forget the most important question. Is the film entertaining. So many of them get wrapped up in mechanics or the underlying themes of the movie that they forget to tell us if I am just going to enjoy it. I mean I love films that challenge my view of the world and make me think in ways I never have before. I but I also love films that I can sit down and watch and have fun.

75. You see, I'm just the opposite.
I prefer it when critics don't give any indication at all about whether or not they liked it. They just talk about the mechanics, the themes, performances, etc. They leave the unqualifiable things like whether or not I'm going to like it up for me to decide.

68. The Onion's critic ripped it apart, basically.
And I know...The Onion...but I actually respect their critics. They have a pretty good average on accuracy.

In the "Bewitched" review, they explained the plot...and it just sounds sort of crappy and confusing. Judging from the review...I'm not sure if it's a "wait until it comes out on DVD" kind of movie.

The good reviews of "Bewitched" are from things like "Hollywood Sixty-Minute" and "Variety". That's NOT a good sign. That's basically a "let's find ANY good reviews" marketing campaign...from people like Joel Siegel and Jeffrey Lyons who have never apparently met a bad film.

They come up with some good headlines and occasionally there is a genuinely funny article, but the A/V section is really good. I generally agree with their movie, music and book critics' taste; and the interviews are always informative.

Never would have thought I'd get actual information from The Onion...

67. Noooooooooooooo!!!!!

Usually I'm the first to argue against the decline of culture. If someone whines about how things are getting worse, I happily point out that 20 years ago people watched dreck like "The Facts of Life" or a show where David Hasselhof talked to his car. Knowledge of the existence of an Alf talkshow is making me reconsider my position on this.

Each week, 6 pseudo-celebrities are launched into space with a random and secret trajectory... They'll transmit each week's installment until they reach the edge of the known universe in which tha simply vanish - or end up as a conservative White House administration depending on the breaks of the space/time continuum...

51. The Facts of Life... but now
since schools can't teach the facts of life - the girls are at a strict Christian school and... well the show is even less entertaining than the original... and definitely NO appearance by then-newcomer Clooney - that might get the gals wanting to know about the facts of life...

57. Designing Women
is it really true that Dixie Carter is conservative? I loved her fire-brand liberal character.

83. Yes, she is.
I only really liked Delta Burke and Annie Potts from that show, otherwise, I hated having to sit through it to get to watch whatever it was that I was waiting to watch. I used to do that a lot. Endure.

84. Three's Company
with Paulie Shore as Jack Tripper, Tori Spelling as Chrissy, and those two are bad enough that I don't even care who plays Janet. Oh yeah, imagine Ann Coulter as the lady upstairs who always tried her hardest to get Jack... And Ben Stein as Mr. Roper and Elizabeth Dole as Mrs. Roper. Oh God, I'm nauseating myself with this made for television catastrophe. Only Hollywood could fuck anything up this bad. What am I doing? :puke:
