Why does drinking in the sun hit you quicker?

I've got no idea whether there is an actual reason.

I'm a fairly well-trained drinker (to say the very very least), but this afternoon I got in from work and sat in the sun with a glass of gin (made very long) and afterwards when I stood up felt a tad dizzy. The same happened yesterday with some Pimms.

Has anybody else noticed that when drinking in the sun (or is it heat?), the alcohol seems to affect you more quickly?

I think it has something to do with the rate that your body dehydrates/hydrates...

learned about this first hand on a Florida beach with Vodka and Gatoraide mixed....

I have a friend who was mixing vodka and Powerade one night...one of my friends was saying "there has to be a reason why more people don't do that..."..and another said "It's probably sending your body mixed messages..get drunk..run a mile!!".

You're only the 2nd person I've heard of doing this. :)

The rest of all do drink the Gatorade/Powerade post-alcohol. Probably similar effect as mixing. :)

But it was gorgeous whilst I was out there. Beaming sun warming, a perfectly chilled drink in hand - the cares of the day ebbing away.

The really pernikety side of me wants to say that there's no such thing as degrees kelvin - I'm fighting hard to restrain myself though.

Kelvin is for scientific study - it being an absolute scale, rather than a matter of degrees (quite literally).

30. Heaven in a glass

It's a drink based on gin with the addition of quinine and a secret mixture of herbs (it was originally to be taken as a tonic), it comes out of the bottle at 25% a.b.v.

It is usually mixed with lemonade (though ginger beer can be used apparently, or champagne), in a large glass (traditionally a pint) with lots of ice, plus lemon, orange, apple cucumber and fresh mint.
