I have a raging icepick-behind-the-eyes headache
and it hurts all the way down into my jaws. My eyes are becoming light-sensitive, so I'm sitting with no lights on, with my dark glasses on. My neck is getting stiff.

And I have a computer hard drive I must do a data recovery job on for a new client RIGHT NOW.

Someone please shoot me with a tranquilizer gun. Or pass me that j, if you can refrain from bogarting it first. (I'm not picky-- I just don't know you that well!)

Something. Anything.

1. Do you have pinkeye?
My eyes were bothering me to the extent that I couldn't even open them without sunglasses and it turned out that I had allergy-related pinkeye. I took OTC medicine (Similisan) and it disappeared in one day. But it was so terrible while it was going on.

Good luck, I hope you feel better.

3. Nope
It's just a humidity-related migraine. I get them occasionally. I popped a couple ultrams and it's already easing a bit.

Better living through chemistry!

2. Oxygen
If there is anyway you could inhale pure oxygen, you'd be done with that headache.

7. I use Runtime Software's GetDataBack
http://www.runtime.org/index.html

I've experimented with several packages, and this one is by far the best for what it costs. I've also had success with R-Studio http://www.r-studio.com/ .

10. I always wanted to put my head in a large vice and crank it
down--Anything to equalize the pressure and stop the nausea-inducing throbbing.

Sorry for your pain... Hope it passes soon.

8. Headache sounds like
the kind that I get sometimes. I get sinus headaches and migraine headaches and sometimes what they call cluster headaches which is really a double helping of the taste of hell that having both sinus and migraine headaches at the same time feels like. A few years ago my pharmacist recommended the generic version of Tylenol PM. I swore up and down to him that Tylenol doesn't work on my headaches. He said he remembered that, but that Eckerd Drug Store had a store brand PM pain relief medicine that would knock it out. I grumbled and said he was losing his touch, but got some anyhow. I haven't looked back. It does work pretty well for an over the counter pain medicine especially for migraines. Of course, along with it, I would suggest bed rest in a dark quiet room until the medicine kicks in. It'll take less time to work if you can do that for at least about 20 or 30 minutes.

And as far as the "my pharmacist" comment. Yes, I have a pharmacist that answers many questions for me in a straight up no bullshit fashion that I appreciate. I have known him all my life as he was the one who filled my prescriptions for antibiotics when I was a small child. Long story short, I spent the first 5 years of my life on antibiotics to try to kee p from dying from kidney problems. He was my pharmacist then and always showed genuine concern for me. My pediatrician also helped save my life by doing what most health care professionals will swear up and down is bad bad bad for you, to be on antibiotics for so long. It was the ONLY thing that kept me alive long enough to find out how to get my plumbing to work right.

Damn, I'm really sorry about that paragraph, but I felt the need to clarify why I consider this guy to be "my" pharmacist. You asked a simple question about headaches and I start talking about plumbing. Sorry.

9. I have three sisters. I know all about "plumbing" conversations.
Doesn't faze me even a little! (If that sounds a bit sexist, it's only because I'm a sexist pig. )

11. LOL
I just tend to go off topic to explain my weird way of looking at things. I am glad you aren't offended. I really just wanted to let you know it's advice I trusted to get the Eckerd PM pain relief medicine and it worked. I tend to get sidetracked easily. You don't seem sexist to me, btw. Three sisters will talk all about plumbing on any given day. :P

12. Not that I'm wishing this on you but the only thing that works for me
is throwing up.

Hope the meds work for you more efficaciously and less disgustingly than my solution.
