3. I liked it when I saw it many years ago...
I don't remember much other than liking it & that it has a lot of dwarfs in it.

4. It was one of those movies,
that I saw as a child and scenes from it always haunted me. Especially when one of them throws the skull to shatter the glass in the desert to reveal the evil lair. I had forgotten the name of the movie for years and was plagued by that. Then I just stumbled upon it again a couple years ago and was so happy to find it again!

:hi:

:)

6. Yeah, but
not as good as Fisher King. I think I liked Baron von Munchhausen better too.

Gilliam does make amazing movies. Brazil creeped out Mrs. Squeech considerably, but it might be time to watch it again, in honor of our government's policy regarding "unlawful combatants."

10. Thanks for the reminder.
It was on sale at Target for less than $10, so I picked up a copy. But haven't watched it yet. Sean Connery as Agamemnon--woof!

Although I was planning on "reviewing" LOTR this weekend--in preparation for catching the LOTR exhibit at the Houston Museum of Natural Science. The exhibit from New Zealand--with weapons, costumes, etc. And the life-size model of Dead Boromir in his boat.

13. FYI - much of the soundtrack for that film
is an inventive reworking of the first movement of Gustav Mahler's 6th Symphony.

16. Gilliam's best, IMHO
The only problem with it is that the Mycenaean/Sean Connery part is so attractive that you really resent the damn dwarfs for taking our hero away from it.

17. Not so much a fan of Time Bandits
but Gilliam has TWO, yes TWO, new movies coming out in 2005. A nice change of pace and something to actually look forward to seeing this year.

20. New Terry Gilliam film out in August!
Looks good! Trailer: http://movies.yahoo.com/feature/thebrothersgrimmqt1.html

Gilliam is one of my all time fave directors, but Time Bandits is my least favorite of all of his works.... it just didn't "ping" for me like some of his other stuff.

Here's hoping that this film will allow him to go back and finish the Don Quixote movie he was working on. Although you have to wonder if Don Quixote movies don't have a curse on 'em, seeing as ... was it Orson Welles? .... never finished HIS Don Quixote movie either.
