Fifth sign of the Apocalypse: Movie remake of *gulp* Get Smart
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0425061/

 Why can't they just leave well enough alone? Yes, it says written by Mel Brooks and Buck Henry, just like the show, but they'll never capture the goofy innocence that the TV show had. (I'm betting fart and shit jokes in the dozens.)

Call the wahhhhhhmbulance, please.

6. Steve Carrell
He's supposed to be playing Maxwell Smart, but he's got a TV series ("The Office") that may interfere.

Steve Carrell by the way used to be on The Daily Show and appeared in "The Almighty Bruce" and "Anchorman."

Probably the closest match to Don Adams.

But who, WHO, could possibly replace Barbara Feldon? :loveya:

Answer: NOBODY.

14. Aha!
Thanks for alerting me to your post!

Dunno about nobody, though. There are some beautiful women with good senses of humor that could do it. But, they better pick a good one, or that would just stink. And i would be most disappointed.

21. No one can replace Barbara Feldon, of course.
But Hollywood will try. I'll bet you right now that they end up with Sandra Bullock.

Oh, and I think Steve Carrell would be perfect as Maxwell Smart.

But I'm afraid you may end up being right about the poop/fart/tits level of humor. Sadly, that's what seems to sell in H-wood today. :(

But then I got a brainstorm for Janeane Garofalo.

this idea has been floating around for a very long time. Even longer than they have been trying to make a new Superman movie.

35. Yeah but it took like 7 or 8 years to get it done
Two or three directors and about 4 actors who kept getting lower and lower on the Hollywood food chain.

Actually, i think it would be funny to have Janeane play the agent who was always hiding in weird places. She'd be a hoot in that role.

And 99 was sexy... I love Garafalo, but that would never work.

Ok... let's compromise... Queen Latifah!!

16. I love Buck Henry. I will try to be optimistic about this movie
knowing that B.H. is a superb satirist and Gawd knows he's sitting on a goldmine in terms of today's political climate.

Downside is I don't want to see Carrell just doing a Don Adams impersonation.

17. We don't need a remake of Get Smart...
...but if we did, Steve Carrell is the man to star in it.

That stubborn befuddlement of his will be perfect for a faithful remake.
